Guptill the marginally better T20 bat imo, but Rohit is the marginally better ODI bat.

Tough call, and I can't say I'm not biased having watched a lot more Rohit than Guptill.

This was my first thought, Guptill on a good day gets you a great start and maybe a bit more, Rohit on a good day will break the game.

He seems a more accomplished red ball player too, but that's probably because batting at six for India is much easier than opening the batting for New Zealand.

Nohit being more accomplished in Tests than Guptill is a myth. He has two big unbeaten tons against West Indies on debut and averages like 20 since then with a handful of fifties. Thats basically the same as Guptil when you take away his lanka-bullying; and Guptil has the harder job and only 8 toes so he deserves more credit.

This is true, though he did make a couple of fairly valuable half-centuries in Sri Lanka.
