I've always wondered if you got a really light bat with a long handle, and stood besides your stumps and played spinners in particular one handed from a tennis stance, reacting late to the delivery and using top spin wrist movements if you would remove all potential opportunity the spinners had to get you out. You could effectively parry away anything that you didn't want to hit and considering most tennis players can place 200KPH serves that kick and spin, it surely wouldn't be impossible.
This is basically a description of VVS Laxman here.

Maxwell would reverse hook this bowling line and length. Smith isn't as good as Maxwell obviously.

Needs more Glenn Maxwell style stepping inside it and smashing it over cover for 6. Now that was an absurd shot.
I've seen Smith do that though. Maybe not for six, but he played that shot even when he was a "legspinner" in 2010/11.

I'd applaud but since Australia won the toss the conditions were clearly too easy for this to be a meaningful knock.

Man I'm kind of disappointed this didn't happen in the first innings. It'd be so much fun to watch if it didn't come with 60 runs to go.

This from cricinfo.

Eric: "Well played to the Aussies and bravo Baz for a brilliant career - maybe didn't quite do justice to his raw talent but always provided plenty of entertainment and (in spite of the naysaying) did bring back some civility to the gentleman's game. Have to say though - NZ clearly second best both home and away despite all the high hopes. Jurgenson needs to sharpen up those bowlers - and Milne/Sodhi need to become red ball options."

You guys wanting hesson gone realise it's gonna be grant "all glory to the moneyball" bradburn next right?
Hesson won't go anywhere for a few years. He's done great work to date, this poor series is more to do with two people who we expect star performances from being not capable of performing. The removal of the bowling coach will buy Hesson credit as the batsmen really haven't done all that badly compared to normal efforts. We scored 700 runs here, that in NZ is usually more than enough.

Can we make it a thing to permanently ban people who average 130 posts a day?
This was the major problem with Blocky. I'm fine with someone expressing contrary opinions, being disagreeable and generally obstreperous, but not when every disagreement leads to 200 lengthy epistles at five minute intervals throughout the day, on and on and on and on and on.

So is there any law that says if Estraya get this close before lunch, they can push it back like in bowling when you are 9 down?

Yeah they can claim an extra 5 overs or something, according to the radio Comms, when they aren't constantly talking about Haze yesterday because their side is getting pantsed.

A shame this is not more competitive this morning, at least get Marsh in with 80+ runs to go to make it mildly interesting. Couldn't afford to miss two catches either.

Is the rule about extra time exclusive to the bowling side? I always thought it was just "if you're close to winning"

Great series win for Australia, they have dominated from start to finish in this home and away series winning 5-0. Good to see Patto and Bird show some form and Khawaja, Burns and Voges doing good work with the bat. Things are looking good for Australia and they have shown that even with injuries and retirements they can still put a good team on the park and that is what makes a strong team.
