2016 Under 19 Cricket World Cup

Yeah the 2004 crop was actually awesome. The whole eleven ended up playing senior international cricket except for James Cameron who almost certainly would have if he didn't move to the UK and play county cricket instead.

Group A: Australia Under-19s v Zimbabwe Under-19s at Bogra, Feb 18, 2004 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

It was a shame the board pretty much collapsed right around that time and all the established players quit because with better structure and more senior heads, Zimbabwe were on track to really improve.
FMD that's a dire Aus side.

I predicted West Indies would win, and I was right. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to Cricket. Congrats to West Indies – they were too strong for Pakistan. Where's that Lanka guy that predicted it will be Pakistan that will meet India in the final?

Haha yeah that Zimbabwe side would beat them even more convincingly if they had a reunion match right now, I feel.
Was going through that Aus U-19 side and came across the bio of Ahillen Beadle:
A batsman who represented Australia at the Under-19 World Cup in 2004, Ahillen Beadle did not get his chance at domestic level until the 2014-15 season, when at the age of 28 he made his debut for the Sydney Thunder. His cricket career had been somewhat derailed five years earlier, when he was impaled on a metal pole as he tried to save a boundary during a grade cricket match. The incident cost Beadle his left kidney. Born in Bahrain to Sri Lankan parents, Beadle moved with his family to Sydney when he was two.
Holy ****.

jesus

notice it said 'tried' which means he probably didn't even save the boundary.

Man I think Singapore could've gone alright in this WC. The Zimbabwe U19 toured recently and we got beat in the first pretty soundly and while the other was washed out, we restricted them to 170 odd iirc.

Momentum is a thing in knock outs and it's very much with West Indies now. BD vs WI should be a good game.

Saif Hassan wastes far too many deliveries up front and his strike rotation is a problem. Blocks everything no matter what. With a strike rate of around 37 as opener, it's not doing it. Joyraz Sheik should open as he has this ability to find the gaps and clear the infield. Shafiul Hayet should replace him for the semi and bat at 6/7.

NZ U 19 an unspectacular 77/7 off 28 overs v Afghanistan at Cox's Bazar. NZ failed to reach the top 8 at the last U 19 WC and were fortunate not to have Australia in their Pool at this WC. A dearth of talent or under prepared for an important ICC tournament ? Unlike Afghanistan, their Associate opponent, Full Member NZ automatically qualifies for the next U 19 WC so no significant impact apart from seeding I guess.

I see they were 27/3 after 10 overs with two sixes and three fours. :p

You can think of this crop as like American tennis players with massive serves, who're currently on a tour of a clay court country in Europe. Guys who'll probably kick on to have acceptable Andy Roddick-style careers, but in this instance are discovering how mediocre their play is once they can't win points with their big serve alone.

Another fifty for #MyBoy The Frazzmeister. Really needs to kick on and turn one of these knocks into a big ton someday. Plenty of time left though. He's only 17.

Kippax. Thanks for the Video of one "new" clay court player.

And fair call. Afghan youth teams have not been flash in recent years v spin. Mainly concrete pressganged into service in Pashtun and the North West Frontier. But the Afghans, who get help from ICC and BCCI, will have prepared to play on clay. Lets see how they go chasing 135.
