Way to make it 10/4 on the first morning there, NZA red ball captain Devcich.

The six for Neesham the very ball before. Easy as shelling peas until it suddenly wasn't for the attack watchman.

yeah knuckle down Neesh if you want that NZ place back. playing a few percentages sounds so un-fun but breezy just won't cut it

But Jimmy hit a sixah!

Enjoyed Patel's dismissal of Devcich.
Enjoyed!?!?! I've watched it on loop for 10 minutes to cure my mood after the ODI. Arrogant shuffle across and down, given out to a ball that was clearly missing leg, gets in a stoush with the umpire and seemingly gets sledged on his way back to the sheds. Brilliance. And incredible arrogance at 10-3 from a guy who's ego is writing cheques that his ability can't cash.

tbf Bocock made a big unbeaten 200 the other week in club cricket while Seifert made a 15-ball 0 on the adjacent deck, and is better with the gloves than Seifert (may be an age/experience thing, but Seifert is very much a batsman-keeper atm). Very determined to make runs, by the sounds of things, and let's not forget that Seifert had done literally nothing up until the century; his place was far from beyond reproach (if not for the NZC equivalent of PONI instructions)
Eh, I wouldn't read too much into who does what in Hamilton club cricket tbh. I'd say their was a good chance Bocock came up against a team featuring 2-3 players who were either, hungover, or hadn't played a proper game of cricket in five years. You're better going off what he's done for Hamilton or ND A which for the most part is nothing. Seifert on the other hand has scored a ton of runs for the Valley, including a double ton against Northland. When you compare their records at that level Seifert would **** all over him.

Runs again today from Bharat Popli. 7 FC innings this season, avge 64 if he were to get out now, lowest score 32. Saw him bat vs McClenaghan and Ferguson at EPOO earlier this season, played the ball late, found gaps in the field, didn't over-hit. Potential test middle-order bat when Taylor retires?

Yeah a much improved player post-Uni I think Howsie's said, although would Hesson ever pick a batsman whose brand of cricket is so lo-fi and indie that he doesn't make his MA's white ball teams? Probably not.

I like Popli, as you said their is a lot to like about his game. He's improved out of sight over the last few years, scored heaps of runs for Bay of Plenty (the most ever) and done very well for ND A. My only concern is does he have that 'ability' or 'talent' to play at the international level. What I do like however is that he is also slowly moving up the order for ND, that is a real good sign. Tells you what the coaching staff feel about his game.

Another weird knock by Rob Nicol.
Ended by one of the more amusing dismissals of the summer. Looks like he was trying to ramp a short wide ball over gully, got a top edge / toe of the bat and started walking before the catch had been taken.

Pretty gentle rehearsal, not as much through the air as Navin Patel was getting. Nathan Smith about to be placed on standby to make sure the Aussies at least get a few nicks. ;P

The discarded Mark Craig is ironically about to hit Hesson with a more incisive and economical PS performance than ever before.

I'm sure there's a new CW meme name in that tale for Bocock, the way he'd prove to blow his chance to make it in domestic cricket. Along with Blocky's Joe Walker, no doubt, who's also trying to make amends with a trial game eightfer up at Cobham Oval this week.

Bocock somehow had a really tall blonde Scottish babe for a girlfriend, iirc. At least he had something to show for those distracted years.
I don't think Walker will be making amends any time soon.

How many more years of Jono Boult are we looking at here? :(

Elliot Santner not as good as Blocky made him sound either?

Hah, but were you also caning the leggies that Blocky said might threaten brother Slinky's career, ****?

tbf Boult is a pretty handy T20 bowler. Can see Walker spending a lot of time playing for ND A, yet never getting the call-up his performances may deserve. I don't doubt he'd succeed (in relativistic, 'for an NZ spinner' terms) if he was picked though.

re Santner Jr, I don't know much, but saw it put like this:
"He's gonna become a Keir Bettley and play 2 or 3 random games for ND. [Do a] Tamati Clarke and play Ford Trophy from nowhere."
