Nice Henry. Place in the test side as a Steve Smith specialist? Boult's pretty much there as a Warner specialist right now tbh.

Don't think it is a marketability thing. How would Dwayne Smith get selected otherwise?
Alwas amuses me when people wahhh about players not getting picked up in auctions, or not going high prices. Yeah Guptil left out because he isn't marketable, but clearly South Africa's Chris Morris is, who just got picked up for a fair bit of dough.
My point was actually nothing to do with looks - hence why I uses Maxwell as the comparison. It was to do with having a marketable personality. Dwayne Smith has an extremely marketable personality. He's also an allrounder, as is Chris Morris, which is gold in the IPL. West Indians also have a lot of brand cachet.

Put it this way - I've followed the black caps my whole life and know absolutely nothing about Guptill's personality; this despite the fact that he's married to a media personality and the NZC fraternity is extremely incestuous community. I know people that went to school with him, still absolutely nothing.

That's actually an extremely admirable thing.

It just doesn't translate to the $$$ in the IPL.

Oh I wasn't talking about looks either. i just wasn't aware Dwayne Smith had a personality.. I don't think you need too much personality to be marketable tbh. Our biggest star has all the personality of a potato.

Guptill's sixes landing on the roof would have made him an instant fan favourite.

I don't get this Clean Rating meme thing, they give Henry 4 for this but McCullum 5 for slogging like Stevie Wonder.

I like it.

that's the one thing i didn't like about the Australian ODI world cup team - the icing begins at #5

their top four and bowling was too good for that weakness most of the time but it was something i felt could be exploited on a cloudy day
