The concerns about Guptill playing in the subcontinent are probably valid, but the reality is he's just not all that marketable to Indian chix.

"Guppy" just doesn't sounds as flirtacious as "Maxi" in the Indian accent.

In news from elsewhere, Guptill has gone unsold in the IPL auction whilst Nehra went foe USD$800,000

Apparently, the reason behind Guptill's omission was uncertainty over his ability to play in India

Funny thing is that we know Nehra is **** wherever he plays
He had a very good IPL last year without getting injured. Was all a bit inexplicable, but it happened.

Feel for Gup a bit - this time round he would have been a good pick from a pure cricketing perspective (lots of mediocre bowlers in IPL that he should dominate), and it's not his fault he's not particularly marketable.

Don't think it is a marketability thing. How would Dwayne Smith get selected otherwise?

Alwas amuses me when people wahhh about players not getting picked up in auctions, or not going high prices. Yeah Guptil left out because he isn't marketable, but clearly South Africa's Chris Morris is, who just got picked up for a fair bit of dough.
