It's not great for Jordan that the most favourable thing people are saying about him is 'He's not worse than Dernbach'

With qdk injured there is no hope...

There is something insanely wrong with the proteas conditioning. How is it possible that so many of our players cramp after getting a big 100?
QDK did have a fatigue problem in India too. He played some excellent knocks in that series, but always got cramped/tired after reaching about 100.
Maybe he tripped over somebody else`s dog on the way to the ground :)

Seriously, QDK`s fatigue/cramping problem I think has possibly to do with his age, more than conditioning issues. He probably still needs to build some muscle in the lower back, buttock etc. lack of muscle in other areas of the body can cause cramps/fatigue in calf/lower leg muscles. Some people are just more susceptible.(This is assuming that they are staying dehydrated and and have all the correct salts etc. and the support staff are not acting like numpties)

For example if they lose 5 overs to the rain, SA's target would be 374, meaning they'd need 124 runs in 11.3 overs

If they lose 10 overs to the rain, SA's target would be 336, meaning they'd need 86 runs in 6.3 overs
I thought that they changed D/L to take into account the much higher avg scores posted now days? (I know that`s an integral part of the formula)

It's not putting SA further behind. They are miles behind already. Rain just means there's less time to get back into it.

Meh rain ruining a good game.

Btw. What is the exact law on the stokes catch? Is the boundary where it is when the ball is bowled or where it was suppose to be if it had not moved?

Indeed, with 5 wickets down you aren't going to get a favourable outcome. If it was actually to take in esoteric things like Saffies tail, it would probably be worse. Morne at 9.....

Cricinfo just liked a rathergood flash from 15 years ago. Burst out laughing. Such a completely unexpected nostalgia trip

Both teams have some issues with the bowling. Think we will have a high scoring series, only venue where the bowlers might have something is PE the others will be flat. Obviously kg will make a difference for SA but the 5th bowler is still an issue, not sure how they solve it tbh.

What is England's best 50 over attack with everyone fit /not rested?

I thought about it for 8.3 seconds and decided it was Broad, Finn, Plunkett, Stokes, Rashid, Ali. So we have some pretty unavoidable issues with the spin but we are reaching to the back of the freezer for seamers in this game. I suppose Willey has done decently so far.

Well you can say the same for SA with no steyn, philander, abbot or rabada. Think if all were fit steyn, rabada, tahir would definitely play and one of morkel/philander & abbot. The 5th bowler still remains problem with not having a genuine all rounder in the top 7.

Yeah, I've said before I think that's just the nature of one day cricket now. One of the biggest factors in the rising scores.

Oh yes, D/L is the problem, not the fact that you've lost 5 wickets.

Makes a change from blaming quotas I guess
D/L would have taken all hope of a come-back away, as we where not totally out of the game just unlikely to win, in the end though rain just killed the game. But we lost because the bowlers bowled like **** and gave to many 4 balls away and Eng took full advantage.

I personally don`t blame quotas for any of our current loses; But it is currently effecting the domestic scene quite heavily, and a great deal of political pressure is placed on the international team, which is never a good thing. WI is a great example of where that can lead. Hopefully the talent (like Rabada) comes through and the political pressure will cease. If you don`t think its affecting SA cricket well that's your opinion.
