Can't really fault Dhoni. He tried his best to lose the match but there's only so much one man can do.

Gonna take a moment here and salute one of the greatest LO careers there has ever been in international cricket. I don't think MSD will play another ODI and even though we have all seen his obvious decline since the late 2014, how wonderful is it that he got to sign off doing what he does best.. Taking it to the last over, putting the bowler under huge pressure and landing the knockout blow. Congrats champ!!! You are not what you used to be but it is still a great way to bow out.


BTW I am positive he should not be playing international cricket post the WT20.

This is the game I was waiting for. This is the batting performance I was waiting for. MK Pandey, yet another product of India's endless factory of world class batsmen?
Great knock under pressure and might just be the answer in the middle India were looking for.

Glad that Dhoni managed to hit the 6 in the last over, even if this is a shadow version of the real Dhoni, it was at least encouraging to see his temperament and composure still functioning.

Manish Pandey always looks good when he is batting.. But I am very very skeptical of his ability to perform consistently.

Decent game. Vindicates my stand that 330 is a decent score.

That's what the JAMODI is now, because resting. Been that way for a few years I think.

1) Ishant Sharma's miserly last over proving the difference.
2) LOL at Brett Lee pointing out exactly where third man should be standing and then the ball going exactly to that spot for four runs.
3) It was India's day. It was never a wide. It looked out that LBW from faulkner. Dropped catches that were dollies.
4) Pandey was the business in this inning. Took 3 sighters outside off stump to get his eye in and then was all business. I havnt heard from him but as soon as they said he had been in India's Under 19 team I assumed he would be classy. Even his shot to score the winning runs showed experience. When they draw the field in like that - really the only way to score is to squirt it over their heads.
5) I had a slight feeling that India would win when it got down to 13 off the last over when Dhoni started talking to Pandey for a long time in the middle of the wicket before the over started. Whatever Dhoni said you can bet it would have been pure golden words of advice from someone who has been in that situation many times before.
6) Mitchell Marsh shouldn't have bowled that last over. Hastings should have been held back. This loss will haunt M Marsh for some time.

That's what the JAMODI is now, because resting. Been that way for a few years I think.

Except for NZ for some reason, we play our test match bowlers and wonder why they get stress fractures or bruised bones.

Pandey is definitely better than other 6th batting options we have. But playing Pandey will mean there won't be a decent 6th bowler. That's why probably Raina/Yuvraj/Gurkeerat should get the nod ahead of him for the time-being.

I don't remember every match of my life (my personal career) and there have been many. But I remember all the close ones that were dramatic.

Laxman making eminent sense when he said to the effect that "Dhoni hs lost his old big-shot hitting capacity which makes it worrisome when he scores so slowly at the beginning of the innings. He needs to alter his strategy to get into a decent groove early even if it is 75-80 strike rate so that his innings does not put this kind of pressure on the team"

Harsha Bhogle finds it difficult to agree even with this comment which is very nicely put without any great criticism of the Indian captain.

I don't think he'll forget he lost the match he scored his maiden ton in by not bowling very well. Whether it'll 'haunt' him it's impossible to know though.
