Yeah as someone who follows NZ domestic cricket pretty closely, I do not rate him at all. Kippax teases me in the NZ domestic thread when he makes runs. Even if he does make himself into an international cricket somehow he's going to be absolutely awful to watch; he bats with a bent shovel, like Graeme Smith except without the talent.

so you're saying they should attack his pads?

Can't really fathom Hodge's captaincy (thought it has been pretty ordinary all tournament). Putland bowling there instead of Laughlin is borderline perverse.

anyway i know sandhu has sucked this season but he's gotta be picked instead of that McAndrew or whatever guy

For some reason, even before the Mel stuff happened, C10 were really rotating that boundary interviewer role around between a handful of people this season, but Mel Jones has probably been the best of the lot at it. Hope she's doing it tomorrow and in the final

Mel Jones is good, she actually asks questions that are relevant to that specific game rather than questions that could apply to any cricket match ever played anywhere.

oh yeah, that's kinda what I was hinting at. She should have a far more permanent role next season, extending to actually commentating games. (Games that end up being WBBL double headers the obvious time to do it)

'Uh, Usman what do you think when a bowler is coming in to bowl, even though every single player who has answered this question has said "I don't think, I just do" '

She's not immune to the pointless questions, but she seems the only level speaking person in the setup, or at least the only one who doesn't ingest illicit substances before coverage begins.

I'm interested to see how Channel 9 goes broadcasting the Women's T20is. Sounds like they've actually got some female comms to do them, but knowing their luck it'll be Slats, Heals and Brayshaw cracking "lol I don't know who this chick is because she's not Ellyse Perry or Meg Lanning" jokes, while the female commentator is stuck as the fourth voice in the box never getting a word in.

Yeah, she is hamstrung by the role being the most pointless and terrible thing humanity has ever devised tbf.

I, too, thought Mel Jones was good last night.

Healy actually knows a bit about the ladies game. Not sure about the others but you can just imagine Brayshaw being at his patronising best if he does the games.

Usman surely has to be in the mix for the T20 world cup??! Two centuries and a half century from three innings, and last night's came incredibly easy for him.
