*Official* English Football Season 2015-16

At what stage do people talk about Leicester as genuine contenders?

Am aware there has been a noticeable drop in performance and output over the past month but they are still there...
You said previously Arsenal weren't challengers in 2013/14 despite leading the league into March so I guess April.

Well yea, sure. If Leicester fall away as embarrassingly as Arsenal did that season there's no way I'd retrospectively call it a title challenge.

Also I've no idea as to when Arsenal went top, but they were never in the race after their 5-1 defeat at Anfield, which was early February. They weren't top after that round of games, no idea if they went back top (though I didn't think so).

I feel like Liverpool weren't treated as title challengers that season until they beat Citeh to go 3 points clear with a few games to go, and even from there they managed to **** it up.

I'm almost certain we were. The arse collapsed out of our challenge after that game but I'm certain we went to Anfield as league leaders and came away still top.

edit: just checked and I'm half correct, Chelsea assumed top spot later that day by winning.

That game was labelled as the title deciding game. People were starting to consider Liverpool challengers after the 5-1 IMO.

Arsenal were only a point off the pace for the rest of February after that 5-1. It was the defeat at Stoke (:() that saw them drop to 4th in the running.

As a further point, I think the fact that Arsenal managed to drop from 1st to 4th because of two bad results is further proof that it was always really unlikely that Arsenal would win the league that year. In a 4 horse race the odds are always against you.

Yeah I remember it pretty well as I layed a pretty sizable bet on Liverpool to win the league at the start of that season. Was definitely getting a lot of texts about it pretty much every win after the Arsenal game.

The thing was I remember looking at the fixtures with about six games to go that season and concluding that they basically needed to beat both Chelsea and City (which was proven wrong in the end because both Chelsea and City slipped up where they shouldn't have, but). So they weren't really favourites until after the City game. But they were definitely genuinely contenders from about early March onwards, absolute latest.

I don't think there's any information here that isn't captured by just using points total to tell how hard a season it was to win the league. Adjusting for the winners easing off after titles were won that makes it your best shot since 2011.

#LFC can confirm that @SMignolet has signed a contract extension with the club: Simon Mignolet signs new long-term LFC contract - Liverpool FC

Heh Ikki.
Me and every Liverpool fan I know are just bewildered at this. Like, what in the **** is going on? SURELY they want him for back-up or something because he's just too limited. I haven't watched every keeper in the league that closely but I'd still safely say he's probably on par with the worst. I've never seen a keeper turn a defence into a shaking shambles the way he does; even with Bogdan we look more relaxed at the back.

He is like a person who had a natural talent for diving and decided to be a keeper but doesn't actually understand the game of football - when to come out, start attacks, etc.

As much as I think the "against modern football" guff is unbelievably naff, it's sometimes hard to love modern footballers.

Of all the modern football issues...
Honestly hate coloured boots, not so much the odd pair for the skilful players, but the fact you get full teams of division four players ****ing wearing them like they're Ronaldo.

Honestly almost makes you want to root for the ****ing refs and linesmen.
