Yeah, shows how badly we bowled yesterday although as Pollack mentioned it has really quickened up and lost that trampoline bounce. Broad/Anderson even got some to lift. Lunch came at a great time for us.
Clearly we wasted conditions yesterday. Especially our openers. Our middle order are going to have to bat exceptionally well to keep us in this one.

I'd like to see what the current ausie top order will do on this pitch . They were the only side in the last world cup that dealt well with the pakistan pace attack. What's going on with the pace gun ?? Hardus at 133 km per hour ?? Now morkel 150 km per hour ?? Yes its the first time the england batsmen has had to chase a lead in the series.

Uh, have you seen our batsmen against the moving ball?

I know england beat aus 3-2 in the last ashes. If england wins the lunch and evening sessions today then they are probably the better side.

India did fine against the Pakistan pace attach in the World Cup, not that it is even close to being relevant to this test match.

This partnership is crucial. If a wicket goes quickly, I don't fancy James Taylor's chances here. Stokes and Bairstow can do well though.

On the other hand, if this partnership stays for another 50 runs, England will be happy with the batting depth they have. Also, the lack of a spinner will make the SA pacemen a bit tired slowly but surely.

Was the match between pakistan and india on a wicket similar to the one between pakistan and australia ?? What I am really asking is if the ausie test side will deal better or worse with pace then england on this wicket since aus is touring here in march. Don't for a minute think I am implying that sa batting is any better.

I think these assessments are really difficult across formats. Playing 30 overs of pace in a ODI game is totally different to playing pace session after session in a test match situation.

Based on historical records, Australia don't generally have problems with pace and their consecutive series wins in South Africa are a testament to that fact.

They have a problem with lateral movement though.

Yes I do have sabc 3 but I haven't seen england on a wicket that produces lateral movement like it is in england. As far as I remember there has been no consistent lateral movement in this. Maybe I am wrong . Was there lateral movement in this series. I haven't seen any balls jag back of the seem . Maybe I am wrong.
