Those were my first and possibly last two posts as a steward at a game, I think I showed admirable impartiality TBH.

Was a fun night really, but oddly just like most of our matches this year, nice football, not much end product, and soft goals conceded. Bit of a different stage though.

Did remind us of an older vintage of a famous Peter Hatch goal in the FACup.

Think despite it looking totally different on the telly because the weird TV angle that I'd never seen at our home, that it's exactly the same side of the away end too.

Oh and because I really am ****ed off with being steward, I'll tell you a story I heard over the radios tonight. Basically we were being told that 3 people were baiting the Big Bank from the seating areas, clearly scouse fans,Pissed out of their heads well it was decided they'd wait until they moved from their seats and turf 'em out, softly softly approach. Nothing too odd. Anyway two of them moved from their seats, so the stewards moved in, turned out they had VIP passes, so over the radio it was decided they just be warned (pfft typical come the revolution), yet they were asked to stay there why the police were to tell them off. Well the VIPs didn't like this and one of them was doing a "do you know who I am" job. The steward in question doesn't follow football, and just said in the mic, "Does Alan Kennedy mean anything to anyone"?

Oh and John Hartson asked me where the bogs were, so all-in-all a bit different then Dagenham at home.

Bogdan looked absolutely amateurish on that corner goal. Windscreen wiper arms.
Amazing how bad the standard of some of the first choice and reserve keepers in the Prem at present. Obviously there are a few notable very good ones but there seem to be more teams with poor keepers than good.

Yup. I was there for the Peter Hatch goal and I remember Motty getting excited about him on MOTD (or what ever the midweek match was called in those days) later that evening.
Nice Alan Kennedy story btw. I suppose anyone younger than us may well have never heard of him.

Watching the game last night, I did wonder how come Michael Stipe ended up managing your lot nowadays. Definitely one of the unlikelier looking managers.

Would have thought the Liverpool fans here would know of him, sure they've seen on LFCTV him scoring the winner in a couple of European Cups, even though it's not like Liverpool fans to live in the past obviously.....

Tis is a bty different to the likes Brian Godfrey, Jim Iley and Colin Appleton I'll admit.

No idea what the standard of reserve and lower table keepers is elsewhere, but I think the Prem has the most top class goalkeepers of any league at the moment. Liverpool are the exception in the top 6, everyone else has someone really good.

Yeah I think the standard of keepers is quite high all round. After Bournemouth and Liverpool you're probably looking at Tim Howard being the next worst.

Yeah, I agree. On the whole I think the standard of keeping across the Premiership is quite strong. With one or two exceptions, there aren't many teams who you could describe as having keepers that are obviously substandard.

Yes, get on the Mignolet hate train.

****e Prem XI:

Mignolet

Debuchy
Jones
Terry (c)
Clichy

Matic
Cattermole (doesn't fit the theme of this side but it baffles me that a carthorse like Cattermole makes a living as a Premier League footballer)
Oscar
Mata
Townsend

Benteke

Lol at none of you discussing the greatest comeback of all time
Wow did you come back into the greatest domestic cup comp in the world three months after being humiliatingly eliminated? I'd admit that would beat Lazarus ****ing easily:)
Comeback of all time, kudos. I mean no-one would be boasting about beating a bunch of part-timeguys in the last few minutes of the game becuase they've been working on the docks for the rest of the week would they, particularly if they're still a full-time outfit?
