This is going to be the best, most unexpected England win for 3 years at least. Also the first away win in the first match of a series for 11 years

Nah, the 2nd and 3rd test win In India were much bigger surprises as was the some of the trashings in the Ashes this year. Have not checked but I would assume that England were bigger prices with the bookies then as well.

Was thinking this morning when I got up this would be one of the best and most satisfying wins away from home in a long time. India tour, Cook's Ashes, Nassers tours to pakistan and Sri Lanka and as far back as the Sabina Park win under Gooch are the only ones that come close to this. Beating the number 1 side in the rankings so comfortably when they had the best bowling and batting conditions as well is a real huge effort.

I'm thinking of Mumbai 2012 there.

Steyn out. Should he even have batted?

Yeah Mumbai for me, anybody who called England winning that test is either a genius or taking the piss, especially after Che got a first innings century, this test a lot of people here were very confident about England's chances.

Yeah not sure about Steyn batting either, would have sent out Abbot to block, he did a really good job against Australia last year.

Why is Ali still bowling?:-O

Do they want Duminy to get dropped next test or something?

get on Root and Cook for a bit. :D

You have to say England are firm favourites for the series now right? Anderson will probably be back, Steyn's fitness is a massive worry, half of SA's lineup batting like spuds... Not looking good.

England favourites for mine even pre-series. England are looking a very dangerous Test side lately, and SA are looking very mediocre outside a couple of great players.

Very interesting for world cricket going forward

After all the moaning about the West Indies getting the boxing day tests, at least cricket Australia proved they were thinking ahead by giving Pakistan not the saffers the prestigious tests in 2016.
