It has the highest engine room to passenger room ratio of any boat XI I've ever seen.
Yeah, I'm keen to see if the Engine Room blokes can actually hit runs coming up the order in one day cricket. I suspect they'd be found out trying to do it in the PS but it could work in this competition.

GD Phillips scores his first 100 for Auckland, how good is that going into a youth world cup?

Pretty good. Off the top of my head other 19 year olds to score tons in Ford Trophy/Shell Cup are McMillan, Ryder, Taylor (?), Williamson and Latham. This under 19 side seems particularly strong. The 2008 one with Williamson, Anderson, Southee & Boult being another that produced a number of stars.

It's good that Craig and Astle are getting picked and played in the short forms for their provinces. This wasn't always the case.

Seems strange to say, after years of indoctrination about LO cricket not being good for spinners development, but should make them more rounded bowlers.

Astle in particular seems to have finally nailed all 3 formats now at this level.

Small and Rance doing the bizo for the Stags with the ball, Worker made another ton, & Will Young has really gone off the boil.

Nice setup for Watling, 14(24) with ND 4 down and needing 7.3 rpo off the last 16, has the chance to show NZ selectors that he can play the close-out #5 / #6 Elliott / Bevan role.

With Henry back Canty have a pretty beastly bowling attack. Expect them to be there at the business end.

Ferguson seems to have kicked on this season. If they get him under the speed gun and find Milne pace he'll be getting international squad call ups.

Lockie Fergusson with the big wickets
Wasn't Lockie Fergusson the guy who Doully and Riggar's "taught/trained" to be faster on a segment on the Cricket Show? (quotations marks deliberate).

Also, lovin' Wellington's throwback canary yellow uniforms

Not sure where else to put this, and it's not really important enough to have it's own thread, but David White signalled today that the NZC are looking to line up a day night test against South Africa next season.

Black Caps set to host South Africa in pink ball test

On the one the hand I'm pretty excited about it, and fully agree with David White that if we're going to do a day-night test, it should be for a game that people actually care about. On the other hand I don't fancy the prospect of Steyn and Morkel under lights...

i think that south africa under lights would be glorious if they could get their full bowling attack on the park

and we have already seen how new zealand under lights are brilliant - that is a match i'd love to see.
