Was more a point of why would you change a winning team. We have dominated South Africa with the ball I would give the same 11 another go. Nothing against Anderson I still think he's our best bowler
If you think woakes hasn't bowled well you have clearly been watching a different game

Woakes had done fine, but nothing Anderson can't do and then some. Deciding whether or not you make chances to a team based on the result is an awful way of picking the side. You pick the XI you think will give you the best chance of winning.

Edit: I mean, it's a very Australian logic. Give Bailey five tests without really playing a promising innings because your winning, but drop Hughes a few innings after a top class 80 odd not out because you're losing.

Normally i'd agree with the keep a winning XI thing but leaving Anderson out for Woakes would be a terrible decision. But only if Jimmy is 100%, if not go with Woakes.

May be Anderson for Stokes depending how Stokes is with that foot. Might just be blisters but not much time to get sorted whatever it is.

I wasn't saying I'd definitely leave jimmy out but it's up for debate seeing how well we have bowled as a team. Had woakes not bowled well then we would have to change a winning team.
But woakes has been very good this match every spell nudging or just over 140ks on a consistent line and length, that last spell to de villiers had him in more trouble than any of our other seamers in this innings. Why break up a bowling unit who have clearly worked so well together

Assuming Jimmy is 100% fit he plays. He has got not much time left as a test player as it is. You don't go in for continuity when your leaving our Jimmy Bloody Anderson.

Yeah maybe. Especially as the middle order has looked relatively solid this game. Normally i'd say it weakens the batting too much, but Bairstow, Taylor and Compton have looked good.

They may be wary of what happened to Steyn here and go with the same attack to make sure Jimmy is fully fit for the last 2 tests. All depends what happens tomorrow and how the 4 pace men are feeling on January 2nd.

We might not have a choice if Stokes is unable to bowl much. Woakes at 8 isn't too bad anyway with Moeen and Bairstow moving up a place in the order.
I personally would drop Stokes even if he is fit, I feel as though Bairstow and Moeen deserve the chance to bat higher in the order, and Woakes gives us more control and can build better pressure with the ball. Plus he's a proper batsman and definitely good enough for a number 8, he batted at 6 in the ashes a couple of years ago!
