Mark Waugh: "Chris Lynn is one of the 6 best batsmen in Australia."

I agree with him but doubt their selections will back it up

Lynn would be in the Test side now if he didn't have the worst injury record I've ever seen of a batsman.

They work in the nets to perfect their runup to a tee. Make it such a part of their muscle memory that they could bowl in their sleep.

They then go out to the field, measure it out in steps, drop a marker at the point from which they start their runup.

Sometimes mistakes happen, and they drop that marker down a little too close to the crease, and as such when they run in to bowl, they overstep.

Sometimes they're not in perfect rhythm, and are adding/losing a step somewhere in the runup.

Either way, they cannot tell they are overstepping until and unless the umpires call them. Once called, they can re-measure their run up, drag the marker back a bit, make the adjustment and return to normal.

It's not like they're bowling no-balls in the nets and then carrying that bad habit into the field. That's not how bowling works at all. Bowlers never look at the crease when they run in. They make sure they're starting off their runup from an appropriate distance to ensure their foot lands behind the line. Sometimes mistakes happen. This isn't something that will be fixed by coaching. The umpires just need to do their ****ing job.
Clearly not all bowlers do or they wouldn't bowl no balls.

Will or can the WI make any changes to their team for the Sydney Test ?
Same for Australia. Seems Siddle is carrying an injury. Would we bring in SOK in his place seeing as MMarsh is bowling pretty well?

If it were me, I'd replace that freeloading, disgraceful, vain, abominable, disgusting, revolting, s**teating freeloader Samuels with Dowrich or even Hope just for meme value.

But they won't, selectors have probably committed seppuku in front of a bust of Sobers.

CA articles I read were saying Sok for Siddle (injury) was a strong chance. Also said Boland for Haze or Patto a chance (puke). Which is just code for resting Haze. Last test of the summer till the tour so just let Haze play a home test ffs.

Workload .... Red line .... Etc

If he isn't injured let the guy play a home test. I could see interest in seeing the reserve bowler in a dead rubber if it wasn't Boland. If they go with Sok he will bowl a lot of overs so less reason to rest. Plus MMarsh bowled really well in Melbourne. Plus Smith can bowl some troll spin.

I guess given that every fast bowler you have seems to get injured they are just trying to look out for him?

I absolutely get the concern. Players talk about playing their home test as being special. As a biased Blues supporter I'd like him to have the experience.

Yeah, he should get to play it no question I guess I was more addressing the 'why do they always talk about resting him' part.

Although Anderson has had more injuries since England started resting him and 'managing' him than I can remember for the 5 years previous. Not convinced there is a fat lot that can be done in some cases.

Playing your home test is great but is there anything really special about playing at Sydney anyway?

it's not like the MCG or Lords

edit: obviously playing at your home ground is special but surely even someone from NSW would rather play the boxing day test than the sydney test if they had a choice

Going to games as a kid and growing up watching cricket there then getting the chance at a test where friends and family would all see you. Hard to rank that after the others and I'm not trying to be pro NSW.

Aussie posters,

quick question please.

The draw is 4/1 with English bookies, what am I missing? Is their going to be tons of rain next test or Australia playing blind folded?

Cheers
