***Official*** West Indies in Australia 2015/16

I'd kill them both in 5 mins if I was in the comm box. Both revel in the lowest common denominator approach 9 uses.
As bad as Nine are they have more experiecne and gravitas than Channel ten or whoever does the big bash. I realise the latter has some big names such as Ponting and Gilchrist, but they carry less weight as experienced commentators and the production seems less organised.

Channel 9 is far from cerebral though. In between Shane Warne getting mad at Darren Bravo for not being busy enough (what do you know anyway about batting Shane) and Mark Nicholas looking for every opportunity to bring up the 1980s West Indies team it was a chore at times.

But in the middle of all of that we had Bill Lawry, who with a moment of clarity said after watching 5 maidens in a row yesterday "We aren't going to bore them out here, stop bowling line and length and blast them out, bring back Pattinson". And Smith did bring back Pattinson and wickets ensued.

Odd declaration but Australia surely have enough anyway?
It's the only reason they've declared, which is what makes it such a bad declaration. Lazy and unprofessional. Don't just assume they'll be so bad and give them a free leg-up for no reason because of it.

At some stage in his captaincy, Smith will get himself in trouble with these 'aggressive' declarations.

Should just have polished off another century first.

I'd have declared to give myself 15 minutes at the openers before lunch.

The Cult of the Aggressive Declaration strikes again. We should probably have a 'Post every time an Australian captain makes an overly aggressive declaration' thread, tbh.

Laziness from Australia really they should have batted on for another 1 hour and 20 minutes to make it a 550 target, they seemed for concerned about having a day playing golf tomorrow rather than securing this cricket match.

West indies chase down a record score against Australia in a test match like 14 years ago, and that side was average batting lineup apart from sarwan, lara, chanderpaul

"If you ignore the good players, they're all crap"

What made it funnier was that the reason why they were able to chase it down was down to those three good players.

I can't help but think that the lack of batting that Marsh and Nevill are getting here could really come back to bite Australia in the arse at some point. Nev didn't bat in Brisbane, Hobart or here, and only played seriously in the second innings of the Perth Test and during Adelaide. Nor did he play BBL between the games.

He's very, very light on time in the middle.

Ya this declaration is sort of insulting to West Indies. Hope they take it on their chin and give a fight (score 300+) to give Smith a scare.

Imagine the pro gamblers betting on Australia at odds of 1/10 for $50000, they are probable swearing at the tv when they saw Aus declare so soon.
