***Official*** West Indies in Australia 2015/16

Could somebody please fill me in on how Jerome Taylor has degenerated into a pretty poor Test bowler. Last time I was really paying attention to West Indian test cricket (3-4 years ago) he seemed to be rounding into a pretty serviceable spearhead. Especially that time he oversaw bowling england out for 51.

He's still a very good test bowler. Bowling against Australia on flat/hard Australian pitches is not the best proposition for anyone these days. Boult also didn't bowl well during the first 2 tests in the recent series. Although I saw only the first spell of Taylor today, he wasn't too bad in general imo (i.e. not worse than Boult in the first 2 tests in the recent series). Maybe in later spells he got devastated with the match situation in mind.

People can speak specifically about different bowlers, but my impression of the WI bowlers generally is that they just aren't very well conditioned these days. It's not a particularly professional setup (both at international and domestic level) and the players can't really be bothered to keep up with the fitness required for test cricket. Shame because Taylor, Roach, Rampaul at peak levels would trouble anyone.

Potentially controversial opinon but I don't think Shaun Marsh scoring keeps Khawaja out of the side once he's fit. Would rather take the media heat from dropping a guy after scoring a ton and drop SMarsh/retain MMarsh to include Khawaja and keep Burns.
From what I saw in the middle and last session the bowling and fielding wasn't even grade standard. Runs vs that should be taken in context. The media is putting the heat right on Burns though. I feel the selectors will go that route unless Uzi isn't 100% then Uzi will just get left out of Melbourne and Sydney for fitness concerns.

The West Indies bowlers appear poorly conditioned. How a unit like Holder barely gets it to 130 clicks is beyond me.

There was a point in the afternoon where Taylor had 9 overs and the main spinner had 19. They had 2 spinners going for a while with the field back. It was like they had ether given up and were waiting for the 2 nd new ball or were doing it just for the over rate.

I've seen teams get hammered in the field numerous times, and each time I got the impression that it hurt the players. It wasn't for want of trying, it's just that the batsman had too much class and the bowlers weren't quite up to scratch.

Yesterday afternoon was somehow different. It became blantantly obvious that the entire team didn't want to be there and didn't give a damn. In fact, the Windies were so bad that the epectators should be offered their money back and the players receive zero payment for the Test match.

This West Indies team is an absolute disgrace.

The saddest thing about yesterday is that the WI bowlers have some talent e.g. both Taylor and Roach have turned in some terrific test performances, Gabriel has improved massively (he truly was **** when I first saw him) and the spinner bowled some lovely deliveries

Biggest disappointment is Holder - he must find 5-10 ks and start bowling a length befitting his height or else he will be nothing more than a part-timer

Unfortunately, I predict that a few of us will make similar comments when they bat i.e. "he looks ok" before said batsman gets out for 22 or some other meaningless score

Team desperately needs a couple of players to build a side around because it is barely fc standard at present

Just a few months back, they drew a series v England at home. Even NZ had a poor first test in Australia. Australia is a tough place to play. This says more about the state of affairs of cricket at the moment than the Windies team.

Holder has never really impressed me as a bowler. The others have, at various points in time.
