A playing XI of players eligible for Tests but not in the current Test squad for various reasons:

Chris Gayle
Keiran Powell
Krik Edwards
Lendl Simmons
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Andre Russel
Dwayne Bravo
Darren Sammy (*)
Carlton Baugh (+)
Ravi Rampaul
Suliemann Benn

12th Man: Keiran Pollard

Bit all-rounder heavy, but I reckon it could give the current XI a run for its money.

Suliemann Benn in June this year was named WI Player of the Year. Interesting.
Pollard should be starting IMO. Reckon he's a better red-ball batsman than Simmons and Russell.

not that you can blame them

If you would make more from one T20 tournament than over a year of playing for your country then it's a no-brainer

especially since "West Indies" is a bit of an abstract sort of "nation", not quite the same as an Australian representing Australia

Holder has to be one of my favourite players in the world right now. Most thankless job in cricket and he still manages to be so good.

Yep. Also doesn't help that their board dies stupid **** like slashing their pays in half without telling them.

Personally i think there are some reasons to be excited about the windies's future, in holder, kraigg braithwaite, blackwood, shane dowrich, etc the windies have got some young talented players who have the potential to be world class, also with caricom suggesting the windies change thier way of administrating, the future might not be so bad for the windies

I mean this was literally what people were saying 5 years ago, except using names like Barath, Bravo, Powell, Taylor, Roach...

What's really damning is that when you get new people in Administration roles including ex players nothing changes. The self serving region based issues are always there.

I think it's more a miracle that they ever became great.

I'm not familiar with that piece of history. He stopped the infighting?
He was the first black man to captain the WI, and was regarded as an amazing leader, as well as being a great cricketer in his own right,

The other bloke was Clive Lloyd, who was like a father figure to the blokes who came through in the late 70s and 80s. Also a great leader in his own right.

i read an interview from BCL where he stated that the West Indies do Well At turning great talent into average players.

I couldnt agree more. If lil bravo and roach played for Australia they would be dominating world class players rather than the unfullfiled talent that they are now.

Talent wise, the West Indies of the past was a complete fluke.

imagine if Holder, Braithwaite, Bravo and Blackwood all just played out of their skin and it was a really competitive series. would bring a tear to my eye
