Dan Vettori vs Tony Greig - tricky, but Vettori's best batting came down the order plus he wasn't a particularly great bowler during his best batting years anyway. Plus Greig has the advantage of bowling seam and spin.
Wasim Akram vs Monty Noble - I suppose Wasim scored more centuries, but he still isn't a great example of an all-rounder. Noble is.

Ravi Ashwin vs Chris Harris - Ashwin did it in a better format.
Lance Klusener vs Jacques Kallis

Andrew Flintoff vs Kapil Dev - tough. Kapil had better longetivity though IMO.
WG Grace vs Imran Khan - again, I have doubts that Grace would've bowled much in today's game. Plus Imran has a far better track record at Tests anyway (which isn't really Grace's fault, but still)

Keith Miller vs Sanath Jayasuriya
Richie Benaud vs Wally Hammond - tricky, but Benaud being picked as a batting all-rounder IIRC in his early days swings this. I don't think Hammond would've played much if he couldn't bat.

Whether one gets knocked out in the first round or gets knocked out in the quarters/semis someone is still eliminated. Talking of the 1st round - I see a few Englishmen got through to the 2nd round which is further than their national cricket, football and rugby teams.

Yeah, I can kind of understand that in one respect, but the other part of me says we still judge them as 'cricketers', but each to their one I suppose. But I'd be lying if I said Cairns' isn't also tainted in my mind.
