With Santner looking as good as he is, this really would be a huge moment for Doug to discover his test batting potential.

New Zealand are still in this. Starc injured, Marsh has leaked runs, Siddle not looking particularly threatening.

I think we on CW can be a bit resistant to raw talent if we follow them a lot in domestic cricket and they don't set the world alight. I remember the first time I watched Latham bat against England people on here didn't seem to rate him particularly highly, but he just looked good straight away to me. Wonder if the fact I didn't know anything about his domestic exploits made it seem more obvious to me that he kind of had it. Probably a similar case here with you guys not thinking Santner is ready but the Aus commentators thinking he looks the next big thing.

Yea Santa does look like he belongs at this level. Shown generally sound temperament and discipline from what I've seen, has scoring areas all around the wicket.

Should definitely get more opportunities domestically and on A tours to bat long. Shouldn't drop the bowling either. Very good 2nd spinner potential.

Can't wait for the Santner ton to send the kiwi audience into a celebratory orgy of pleasure.
