Do you know this is just the second innings of the match. Shaun Marsh is very likely to have an opportunity in the fourth Test and Khawaja isn't expected back for the first Test vs WI. It isn't literally over.

let's be real here. Shaun Marsh can not cut it at test level

so apparently sri lanka always puts in a leg slip to steve smith in all of the test matches he's played against them over the years

Aside from his technical issues (which are obvious to everyone bar the selectors), Marsh apparently suffers very badly from nerves

That was just a brain snap
OK - it had to be something because it was bordering on strange.

#1 - never run on a misfeild
#2 - Baz is a good fielder
#3 - Just like the commentators said - the call of "wait" is invented for situations like that.

There are a number of countering thoughts that should have gone through his mind.

is this NUFAN's "debut" moment of 2015?

Just saw the Southee wicket - delicious bowling. I was hoping we could limit Australia to 270-280 but now dare to hope for better than that.

I would rather we go for someone else too but I just don't think you can ever say a career is literally over, half way through a match. If he makes a match winning 100* in the fourth innings, is his career suddenly back on again?

I think the leg slip position to smith is worth a shot but only really effective if you've got a bloke with a bit of heat. Boult in form would be a candidate but atm it would be a wasted fielder.

Yeah but whilst he should never have been picked for this match, he will almost certainly get at least another match

whatever. his career is still over. he won't play test cricket beyond this summer. he's just having an extended funeral

Everything Shane Warne said there was excellent advice. And I hope Shaun Marsh makes note of it. You must identify the top fielders.

From a NZ perspective. Years of hustling in the field paid off there. That is what we should be known for.

"12 innings out of 28 where he's scored 4 or less"

**** me Bradman got centuries at that rate
The ridiculous thing is that they sound surprised by that stat and guys like Brayshaw generally follow it up with "He's a better player that!"

No James, he's not
