The field is set such that Taylor has to take a lot of risks to smash it. Meanwhile Boult has everyone up, so smashing it makes sense.Well yeah...I'm mostly just focused on Taylor getting to 300, which you'd think (being all "team first" aside) was kind of a priority for him...and also seems like a decent option for the team when it's a choice between Taylor trying to smash it or Boult trying to smash it. Almost like he's more interested in a not-out than in getting to 300.
you know everyone's on the boundary when Taylor's on strike right. He's trying to get there. And singles is the only option unless there's a pie sent down, which there hasn't been. So while he's trying to get there he's given Boult the go ahead to smash some runs and if he gets out, that's ok.Well yeah...I'm mostly just focused on Taylor getting to 300, which you'd think (being all "team first" aside) was kind of a priority for him...and also seems like a decent option for the team when it's a choice between Taylor trying to smash it or Boult trying to smash it. Maybe he doesn't give a **** about the personal milestone and is taking a longer view i.e. the more Boult bats he gains confidence and experience in these situations so he doesn't get panicky in the future situations like this.Well yeah...I'm mostly just focused on Taylor getting to 300, which you'd think (being all "team first" aside) was kind of a priority for him...and also seems like a decent option for the team when it's a choice between Taylor trying to smash it or Boult trying to smash it. Yeah. Whenever Blocky posted about it, it really come across as nasty, though.Blocky used to make jibes about it though right? Or am I imaging that?
I agree with that tactic but we went with "everyone else swing while Taylor becomes increasingly more defensive and disinterested in going for his 300" as our way of going about it.Bat long, hope for an Australian collapse.
1 over. **** that would annoy.Damn. A brilliant innings. What a guy.
Do we get to bowl before lunch?
It's almost like Australia bowled well to him and, with the 6-guys-back-take-the-single-please fields, it wasn't easy to slog!I agree with that tactic but we went with "everyone else swing while Taylor becomes increasingly more defensive and disinterested in going for his 300" as our way of going about it.
Would've thought "everyone bat sensibly but once we get to 9 down Ross farms the strike and goes hell for leather for 300 before Boult gets out" would've been the more traditional method
If they didn't hit Hazlewood out of the attack it might have been a bit more confusing. Getting 15 or so off that over was very important.Yeah so maybe that approach wasn't awful.
