Agreed, though Southee and Boult are genuinely good bowlers, but not in form. They can take wickets when conditions aren't favourable (see UAE, Sri Lanka). They're bowling really, really averagely this tour and the next cabs off the rank aren't standing up at all (for all our chest beating about depth, it's only true at home - maybe).the main difference atm is just pace. When the balls not swinging 130k "thunderboults" isn't doing ****.
It's far from essential though. A genuinely good bowler, in form, who bowls well can take wickets regardless of what type of bowler they are. NZ don't have one of those right now.

You still need to be good, not just fast.
