What a joke. The DRS system does not work. Why the hell can't the 3rd umpire review these decisions independently? A big nick not given is a howler, and everyone bags McCullum. What a load of rubbish. Warners one is taking all of the bail, and still the goofy DRS system has to back up the umpire, rather than the commonsense view which is that it was out. Howlers here, howlers there.
The series is a farce, stuffed by a crap system that backs rubbish umpiring.
It's not a howler. I just donot agree that decisions like those should always be out since there is some doubt. The tracker says it's clipping and the fact that it stays not out is fair enough. You can feel aggrieved all you want but it wasn't stone dead and you just shake your head and move on in such cases. They just shouldn't strike off a review for marginal ones, that's all that's truly unfair.

only 2 changes that need to happen:
- Margin on Umpire's Call for lbw reduced
- Reviewing team doesn't lose review for Umpire's call

then it would be pretty much perfect

Can't believge how much we've sucked, some iffy decisions aside. We've played better in Australia with worse sides. Ffs. We're going to struggle to take 20 wickets in the series.

Warner, what a champion! Hard to think of an easier looking test hundred. Looks like he's got all the time in the world.

The review system is definitely a bit weird. The idea that you can be better at not getting punished by bad umpiring calls and it being a skill you need to improve is really kind of odd when you think about it. But there aren't obvious alternatives that don't have problems.

It's not clipping though, it's dmashing into the top of middle stump.

You only need the first tbh.

a) Umpires need to do their ****ing jobs properly (i.e. use their eyes and ears; the caught behind was obvious and the pad-first LBW looked pretty clear to me, I'm giving it out);

b) DRS needs to stop being so bloody conservative on margins of error. Double application is stupid.

Just move the "lines" demarcating umpire's call to the actual outside border of the stumps rather than the middle of the stumps/bails. That'd eliminate these "hitting leg stump/the bails really, really hard but still umpire's call" decisions which cause the most angst, but keep the "barely shaving the stumps" calls which no one thinks should be overturned, but can't rightly be given not out either.

So this is the best NZ squad to come to Aus in years huh....I'd hate to see what the worst one was like...I reckon even they would perform better than these headless chickens.

i figure all the wins before this were pay off for 2007-2012 so i'd like to think this and the world cup final mean something nice is coming down the line.

because sport is an evenly balanced see saw of good and bad amirite.

Technically it is clipping, once you take the margin of error into account. The margin they consider needs to be relaxed a bit for sure, since it does make the whole thing quite iffy. But it just wasn't a plumb lbw.

Haha, I remember the Indians refusing to use DRS then Hussey got out given out dubiously, and Australia just about broke the Internet. Biggest dummy spit of all time.

Personally, I back the Indians. Some of the DRS ball tracking is bizarre; upward trajectories suddenly flattening out inexplicably and so on. All of it is used to back myopic numpties like Llong. If someone is wearing glasses they have an issue with their eyesight, and his hearing seems to be shot as well.

technically it's smashing into the top of middle and the margin of error babbled on about so much because tradition.
