Kane, BJ, Boult, and Baz. Tim hasn't taken a five wicket bag for 2 and a half years at Test level (as much as we like to think he's a superstar, he's not consistent at all), Ross hasn't been world class for a couple of years then you've got a bunch of other blokes who aren't contributing. The 2001 one side was carrying Skippy Sinclair at best. Dunno where the eyebrow-raising comes in.

And talk of dropping Mark is baseless. No one remembers the Test before Brisbane when he dismissed Bell, Root and Buttler in the fourth innings, something a spinner hasn't done for us...since the last time Mark did it v Pakistan...then before than when he did it on debut...then bloody ages before that. He's hardly Robinson Crusoe being wacked on his first attempt in Australia. And there's no alternatives, in any case. Fairly brainless argument.
Reminder performances against minnow meme teams like England, Worst Indies and UAEistan literally don't count for anything.

As if getting out Bell and Buttler is an achievement.

Don't overrate the 2001 side that played at Perth. The batting was very solid but the bowling, apart from Vettori, had Cairns on the way down from his bowling peak, a fresh Martin who got whacked and a fresh Bond who got whacked.

Parore and Astle don't play the innings' of their careers and Australia wins comfortably IMO.

Nash and O'Connor went home after the first test.

Could you imagine us playing a 5-match series? We'd be down to the Naenae 2nd XI bowling attack by the time we rocked up to the SCG.

I can understand you disliking Haddin and Warner, but one isn't in the team anymore and normally we allow special children a bit of leeway.

I dont really understand criticism of the rest tbh.
Starc is a massive dickhead

edit: yeah what ed said. plus the time he decided to direct a ball at pollard as he was backing away. surprised he didn't get banned for that one.

Taylor is just one of those guys who looks average when he scores runs, absolutely terrible when he doesn't, and randomly has days when the sun shines out his arse. Definitely a cut below world XI material but any side in the world wouldn't mind having him.
The fact Taylor looks **** almost all the time but is a gun us a big reason why he is fun and good for cricket. That and the way he wears his helmet over his forehead when he gets out is cool

Starc is a saint compared to Warner Twatto and Haddin. Losing 2 of those 3 has made this Aussie team way more likeable

I like David Warner.

He's just a bit thick. I think his heart is in the right place though.

Can't say the same about Starc though. He has twice wilfully tried to hurt players in dead ball situations. Should've really copped a serious ban by now.

Yeah, with Twatto, Haddin and Clarke (tried too hard at times to make up for his middle class metrosexual nature) all gone the Aussie team is actually pretty likeable now. Johnson's legitimately a great bloke inspite of his at times terrifying bowling. Smith seems a decent chap. Warner's a lovable buffoon. And the rest are all too new to have revealed any nasty traits.

Warner and Johnson are big softies. In fact Starc aside we really do lack on dickish behavour. Crisis. Perhaps something we need to look at.

Although Smithy did almost smile when talking about Starc's behavior at the press conference. I was half expecting a wink as he said he'd have a 'chat' with him in the sheds. So that's promising.

Horror thought: If Starc pulls up injured in training before the 2nd Test, we might bring in Agar (CA logic). Oh no. We'd be so nice we might even double declare before play starts.
