He said his side was willing to field, with captain Moises Henriques prepared to declare in a bid to speed up the match. "Out here today it's a beautiful day in Sydney and I think maybe the abandonment of the game was probably a little bit early," Johnston told Sky Sports Radio on Monday. "I think we could've got some play in today."

Very disappointing the way the NSW vs Vic game has finished up.

What sort of precedent will this set ?

Will this now lead to the "safety" issue being raised every time it rains by teams who think they are struggling ?

i love how the article starts off, and it starts off well, by saying bat up is a new thing and then finishes with which of course you ****ing started by saying it's a new thing!

it really did start off as a fun interesting little piece about change and what not but man it just finished by ****ting all over the new thing.

Yup, read a bit of stuff by that guy and he has always had very specific ideas on technique, rather than looking at the positive and negative sides of it. Wrote a thing on Joe Root that was so "definitive" about his technique and weaknesses.

It's sort of like how CA used to show a video of Graeme Smith highlighting all his technical flaws at the Level 3 coaching, because he was everything that a typical Australian batsman that they'd like to produce isn't. Still averaged best part of 50 in Test cricket though...

If NSW was so happy with the situation I'm sure that they'd still be playing the next game at the SCG instead of moving it.

Don't really think they had much say in it given it starts on Friday or something. I'm sure CA heavily implied what had to be done. The later game in November is still there for now. But look, the SCG is always in...an interesting state in November. I remember watching Rad Haddin's 100 against Victoria almost exactly three years ago and thinking the square looks like crap, and they played a tour match against South Africa that month in a similar state, so it's been known for awhile by both CNSW and CA. It's annoying, for all parties, that only after a freak occurrence (2 separate lots of 10 mils hitting the area within 16 hours) it's been acknowledged as an issue.
