Providing the wicket settles down before Devcich takes a cheeky swag of wickets in the final or something. A new and improved action from Devcich to watch out for, according to Styris last night.

Yes indeed and know doubt still here reading garbage about Duffy being the 'next' good test prospect in New Zealand.

As far as I'm concerned he was a better looking bowler when he first burst onto the scene when he was 17. Nice movement, good pace (he was late 130's then). He actually looked like a proper prospect in the Trent Boult mold as a teenager. Now however he just looks like you're average 21 year old first class bowler. Nothing special about him whatsoever. I could rattle off a few names of guys who are in his age range that I like the look of more at this stage.

Weird posting from Howsie tbh. If you want to propose that Duffy doesn't and will never have the accuracy requisite for test cricket, then fine. Hell, even I think it's likely he'll go through a few Steven Finn-esque periods of being garbage.

But there's no way you can genuinely watch Duffy bowl and say there's nothing special about him.

Again, he's not putting it down there ball after ball but if you can bowl those deliveries from that height there's something to work with. He's also been our best bowler for the A team this season so...

It's not weird at all. What exactly is special about him? He's only medium pace, his bounce really isn't anything too different and he does bugger all with the ball. Heck just look at that still clip of him on the video you posted, look how much height he's wasting by crumpling over like that. Accuracy is the least of his problems as far as I'm concerned, ability, or lack of in his case is the biggest problem with him.

If he's been our best bowler for the A team this season then we might be in trouble, seeing as he took 1-160 odd against a piss poor Sri Lankan A team.

I think he's average. If he wants to play tests, he needs to get his speed to consistantly around late 130's-140s. Doesn't have the height in his action or pace atm to trouble batsmen if the ball isn't swinging.

Definitely agree with Howsie on Duffy's action. Probably loses at least a foot as he falls over in his stride. Disagree with him on the 'does bugger all with the ball' comment though, he gets good late away swing when he pitches it up.

Clown college standards of fielding from Wellington. Has cost them at least 30 runs in this innings so far.

Yeah I saw you hadn't logged in yet. Make sure you choose your preferred device carefully here, seeing I think I have to wait a month in between deleting one and slotting a new one in, or something silly.

Replay coming up on SS2 in 10 minutes -

Nah I don't think I could say that tbh. Wagner's still looked much closer to Test grade than Duffy against Sri Lanka A to me. I feel Duffy has been mucked around by the comings and goings of bowling coaches down in Otago though.

I wouldn't write off anyone who bowls overs like this one I saw at Uni Oval though btw; the bastion of lateral movement and carry that we all know and love. I'd like to think if he was an Auckland prospect, that incentive to get himself a really top coach and get the most out of his height would be felt a bit more keenly.

Haha will do!

I wasn't home for much of the other games so far but I was home for today's one and just forgot all about it. So annoyed. :(

Put me down as a Santner hater with the bat. Just looks so awkward and plays and misses to the medium pacers a lot. Not a test match batsman right now. Looks good against spin though.

Also not a fan of Will Young moving his front foot across and forward and his back foot not covering off, and he's really side on. Always gives me uncomfortable memories of Peter Fulton. Other than that there is a lot to like.
