Australian Domestic Season 2015/16

Tangles

International Vice-Captain
I'm going to go for an average of 33.33 or higher. Generally, I don't think anyone demands a spot in the top 6 of a Shield side with that sort of average, unless they are contributing well with the ball but I think that'll be a solid achievement and tbh looks a way off at this stage. Also, Tassie bats have struggled for the last year and a half so that mark should be enough for him to keep his spot in the side at full strength.

He shouldn't really be aiming for that average though, first he needs to be able to:

bat a session [ ]
surpass his OD HS of 34 [ ]
make a first class fifty [ ]
be involved in an important 100+ partnership [ ]
respond well from a duck [ ]
hopefully make a ton [ ]
Look like Tassie will give him a run of matches. Hopefully he can ignore some of the expectations and focus on getting used to FC cricket.

He'd have been better staying at home. He would have got a shot if and when he earned it and earning it would have taken a fair bit of work. I can't blame him taking the offer, but I hope it doesn't cost him long term.

hahaha their team is at least one bowler short. rohrer to be named 12th man.
serious or joking?

One of the 5 specialist bowlers in the squad will be twelfth. You don't need 5 bowlers + Henriques. Leaving a batsman out would just leave them a batsman short with Lenton/O'Keefe at 6 and 7.

Aah, I believe you aren't familiar with the balance of NSW Shield sides.

They always pick 5 bowlers + Henriques despite it being counter-inuitive a lot of the time, and sometimes more. With Nevill in the Australian side I think things should be different, but who knows.

Interesting that Carters has ditched the gloves. Hopefully the runs can start flowing again. (Doubles in the same innings as Arun scores one aren't anything to get excited about)

Also interesting the talk of Patto @3. Would have thought Mad Dog, Moz, Patto would have been the 3,4,5.

Will seem very weird if NSW do finally go in with 6 bats (inc all rounder), w/k, and 4 bowlers. Dermo Abb00tt will need to hurry back and push Lenton up one before bl00s fans loose their minds at such radical thoughts.

I thought that was generally because they feel they have to pick both O'Keefe and Lyon, but with Lyon out I don't think Somerville demands a place as a 5th bowler

They've been doing it long before Lyon was at NSW.
Selected a NSW line up from Mar 75 completely at random...

Rosen
McCosker
Turner
Walters (RM 2nd change) (ave 43 with the bat 35 with the ball) (both much worse than his test numbers actually)
Davis
Gilmour (LFM 1st change) (ave 30 with the bat 31 with the ball)
Hill (OS 2nd change) (ave 18 with the bat 30 with ball)
O'Keefe (LS 1st change) (ave 26 with the bat 28 with the ball)
Rixon (w/k)
Colley (RMF opening bowler)
Pascoe (RMF opening bowler)

NSW and 6 bowlers minimum - it's just how we roll.

imagine how we'd pick 6 bowlers if Moz got picked for aus. 5) lenton 6) dermo 7) SOK 8) lalor 9) sandhu 10) somervile 11) dougeh.

that's reason alone to somehow get moz into the test team asap
