England's batting is so loose when they're ahead in the game. They only got away with it during the Ashes because of the agreement both sides had to give up if behind at the end of day one. Need a return to the days of Cook and Trott brutally boring the opposition into submission.

This is looking grim. When we were taking first innings leads in 2012 we at least got a couple of wickets before they went past. Younis and Misbah are still in the tank.

I wonder if Botham still thinks that England will enjoy seeing any ball that has huge turn and bounce?

Yeah, it would take something extraordinary from Pakistan for us to be chasing anything remotely viable.

I'm trying to remember a worse England spin attack when playing in the SC. And failing We were pretty anodyne in Pakistan immediately after the loss of Underwood to Packer in 1977, but you'd figure Miller and Edmonds offered a bit more control. And even though we were slaughtered in India n 1993, Emburey or Tufnell had to be better than these guys.

EDIT
Another few of those would help though. 8-)

Apparently regular watchers of this pitch think it flattens out rather than getting miles worse, so around 200 should be chase-able if we bat well.
