Best debut 5 in fc history
A good day for cricket at the MCG today, not a cloud in the sky, nice and warm, typical Melbourne weather.
Qld put on the runs today with Hopes hitting out till he was caught on long on boundary off Ahmed, Hartley made a few after taking an age to get off the mark . Cutting started out hitting but then went into his shell. Wildermuth went for a run that Reardon at the non strikers had no interest in.
Bowling wise, Hastings did what Hastings does, perseveres. Pattinson looked good again, Siddle ran in hard. Hopes took to Stonois for a few and to Ahmed as well.
When the Vics batted Quiney looked the goods with one of the best 17's you would want to see, till in the over before supper Cutting got one through, next ball Stoney Stonois played inside the line to one that hit the off stump but Handscomb saw off the hatrick ball no trouble.
Dean, after doing what seemed 50% of Victoria's fielding, looked solid, a half chance to slip was his only blemish, Handscomb started very slowly but looked sound.
Cutting was the best of the bowlers, Sketete looked ok, Hopes and Wildermuth were tidy, Boyce was doing ok till Dean hit him for three 4s in an over, he didnt get another bowl for the rest of the day. Labuschagne bowled a couple of overs of legspin at the end of the day.
Didnt see the players have any discussions about the pink ball, obviously Boyce had the same problems with it as the Vic spinners in making it turn
