It does baffle me a bit that Callum Ferguson hasn't played tests yet. Guys like Burns and Doolan who have been less successful in FC cricket have had a go.

Sometimes he strikes me as ideal for right now, and I'd far prefer to see him at 4/5 over SMarsh

They are probably waiting for him to prove his credentials until he's too old to consider: Like Rogers ...

I'd like to wangle him into my team and would at the expense of Usman, forcing Burns to 3. As for the selectors they seem to place him behind Smarsh and Voges so he seems a long way off.

Hasn't really done anything to stand out has he? Voges was in the 1 day team but took a 1k run season to get noticed.

Ferguson? Averages 52 with 5 tons in 21 games over the last 2 fc seasons which compares to his overall ave of just under 40. He's responded well to CW criticisms ... Only thing he hasn't done yet is convert more 50s to 100s and show an ability to score daddy hundreds. You'd hope the selectors are considering him.

Yeah, I was a big critic, but he's done the biz the last two years and should be in the frame. Would love to see him pile on 1000+ this year and make a rock solid case say for Voges spot.

Better numbers than I realized tbh. Should be in the frame with more scores and some underwhelming test performances.

I always thought he was good but barely Test level to be frank, been turning it around though. Realistically he probably needs to go into Voges mode and send that average into the 40's to get considered, would be nice if it was at Darsh's expense.

Something about his technique bugs me though, seems to really constrain his body into a sort of half crouch and holds his bat really close to the body.

Had to go that way, I think. Early on he was quite expansive and left himself open to the ball coming in, specially his first 20 balls.

klinger has played in like 14 shield seasons and averaged over 40 in like 4 of them. if you're disposing of voges i guess you could maybe risk it but otherwise

I'm in limbo about ageism at the moment. If we lose at home to NZ here I'm less likely to want more old faces heading over the ditch to take them on in the return series

i mean if they're good...but voges looked all at sea in the ashes, and klinger isnt exactly prolific, although he does know how to make a big hundred.

According to the ABC radio one of the selectors, M.Waugh, was heard to say that they dont want too many old blokes in the team.
