I thought he was just staying in England and not coming back.

Scooter Henry straight into the Bulls side and Forrest on the outer is interesting too.

No Hogan was cut by Langer, but Nathan Coulter Nile out for a month, and he has been resurrected, the West Australian called this 2 days ago before the side was picked.

Think Zampa's got the spinner's spot sewn up for SA. Fully expect the bowling to be fairly predictable, the only selection hassle is who misses out with Cosgrove returning and, for mine, Ross's form knocks Lehmann out. Reckon Siddons also won't be much of a fan of papering over the cracks with bits-and-pieces players so anyone picked will probably have to do the job in their main discipline.

Based on what I've seen, quite like the look of the bowling attack for Adelaide conditions, couple of solid guys to back up the young gun with Worral to provide some reverse. This attack could deliver the much sought-after 'home fortress' and, well-led, they could go alright this year.

This is probably blatantly obvious, but how come apart from Botha there haven't been any recent overseas exports playing FC/LA cricket over here?

NSW Squad announced for the first game:

Steve Smith (captain – Sutherland/Sutherland JCA)
Sean Abbott (Parramatta/Parramatta DCA)
Doug Bollinger (Fairfield-Liverpool/Parramatta DCA)
Ed Cowan (Sydney University/South Eastern JCA)
Josh Hazlewood (St George/Central Northern)
Moises Henriques (St George/Georges River-St George DCA)
Nathan Lyon (Northern District/Riverina)
Nic Maddinson (Eastern Suburbs/Southern)
Peter Nevill (Eastern Suburbs)
Stephen O’Keefe (Manly-Warringah/Hawkesbury DCA)
Mitchell Starc (Western Suburbs/Northern District CA)
David Warner (Randwick Petersham/South Eastern JCA)
This NSW side is so impressive. If Dougeh misses out i hope that it is due to bowling ability and not a combination of batting and bowling, because SA are going to struggle to get our Warner Cowan Smith Maddinson Henriques Nevill out twice unless the pink ball starts acting crazy.

No Sayers? In FC cricket he's easily the best bowler for South Australia with Putland's decline/lack of recent form.

Yeah lined-up for the Bays but that's the only red-ball he's played since he was injured isn't it?

Was captain of SA's last winning Sheld side. Was also captain/coach the following year when Bomber left for South Africa and they fell in a screaming heap so.

Chanderpaul was the same at the same age and they're similar in some ways. Just a mental barrier he'll break and follow up with consecutive 1000+ seasons and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Siddons coaching is limited to teaching players how to find cow corner with a high backlift, alienating half the dressing room and putting batting all rounders at 8 so I'm surprised he got an Australian gig is all.

Was a top-shelf bat but I think he got a lot of help as a man-manager when skipper. The stories that came out of the Hammond reign of terror are legendary but, well, the dictatorship contained a Shield final followed by a Shield win and produced Jason Gillespie as well as some of Lehmann and Blewett's best seasons together so hey.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that when he breaks through he'll pile em on. He can certainly bat.

Siddons record as coach of SA isn't looking too bad so far. They seem to be pretty together and playing to the few strengths they have. Good fielding and tight bowling can take you a fair way. Get Trav, C00ps and Ferg to score runs and they'll be in more games than not.

It was a concentration issue early on but I think he's more or less resolved that and it's become a nervous mental hurdle more than anything else when he gets into the 90s. He has six 90s now, three of which were actually made in consecutive innings and one of which was a not out. 6 tons and 11 fifties seems a lot less silly than 17 fifties.

Do you think SA, Tas and Vic might announce their teams today or are they just going to wait until the toss?
