Australian Domestic Season 2015/16

Zampa vs. Smith is all the more satisfying given Zampa seems to try to start **** with him in every game, and they're ex-clubmates.

Well that ended the way it was expected really.
Smith and Starc showing just how good they are.
Disappointed for Cowan missing out on the century that could have put him back in the reckoning for an Oz cap in either form of the game.

Croweaters exceeded expectations in making the final. Well done to Kane Richardson and the SA bats to get this far.

remember when he sucked at ODers

just laughed pretty hard at the idea of our team being bookended, for most of the season anyway, by two former test players and veterans and two guys who have probably never had a conversation with each other, doug bollinger and ed cowan

Oh come on, I'm sure Dougeh has had a few convos with Ed over the years. Something along the lines "**** off, the dressing room's that way".

Liking the technical changes Maddinson had made. Looks less like Strauss these days and absolutely smashed them. I wonder whether he could be given a go down the order in Tests.

Congrats NSW, deserved to win - having the best bat and bowler helps.

With both of them presumably out for most of the Shield, it will be a tougher task to win the double, but definitely achievable. I can't wait for the Shield season to start, having the draft definitely makes the season that little bit more exciting.

Who has improved their standing in your opinion during the BBQ one day tournament.?

IMHO

NSW - Maddinson, Cowan
QLD - Sketete, Stanlake
TAS - Michael
SA - Kane Richardson
WA - Bancroft
VIC - John Holland
CAXI - Harris

C9 - Tom Moody

I think that's pretty much what I was expecting from Mad Dog coming in. Maybe two tons is a bit overs, but I don't really put too much value on the runs against CAXI (worth less than Shield runs in Adelaide). The horrid ways he gets himself out still grate.

Ed looked very good though. The change in stance really looks to have done great things for him (was cracking it last Shield Season as well). Shame it's probably 3 years too late. Great for the Bl00s of course, but he looks like he could have done a real good job for us in the test side.

I've noted before that Stanlake looks a lively customer (needs to work out where his middle stump is), and Hilton Cartwright was for me the best of the CAXI guys. Looked solid and comfortable at this level and then when going could bang em hard.

Agree on Dom Michael too. Will be interesting to see where he fits in the Tassie Shield line up.

Yeah Midwinter, stop hating on Cartwright. Second time you've made such a post. I'm going to assume you missed his last two innings. :p

I'll add Andrews and Ross to the SA list too. Andrews wasn't spectacular but he did his job well and commanded his place which is definitely more than I expected from someone I was surprised they picked in the squad in the first place. Ross played two absolute gem innings which was impressive from someone who was still basically a fringe player before this tournament too.

Oh and Sokky had his best one-day tournament. 8 wickets @ 27.87 and an econ rate 4.55 was about half his career average. Holland was the stand out spinner, but my boi did his job well, which hasn't always been that case in the 50 over stuff.

Yeah I was happy with Andrews points in the draft. Very tidy pick 12.

Will he and Ross get Shield gigs I wonder? I can see Andrews taking the B0000tha role with the ball, but not the bat. Ross might have played himself into the Shield side though.

Yeah, can SA get away with Zampa at 7 in the Shield to play an extra bowler? I'd say no, but who knows, they might just do it.

I think they could if their keeper batted better than Ludeman. Ludeman at 6 is much more of a problem than Zampa at 7 IMO. I think they probably will try it though, at least at home, because otherwise it's Head and Cosgrove bowling a lot at Adelaide Oval..
