***Official*** West Indies in Sri Lanka 2015

I still have the day 2 footage recorded and Gabriel was up at 149kph. Were we watching the same game?
Still, Pradeep bowled quick throughout his spell. Gabriel was pedestrian later in the day, or at least the pitch made it look that way. Pradeep was hurrying all the batsmen for pace.

Gabriels quickest was 146. Nuwan Pradeep hit 147 and 145k on multiple occasions. AVerage wise he was few clicks quicker than Gabriel.

Roach and Taylor are head and shoulders above Prasad. Prasad is usually a decent bowler these days but he's not a patch on either of the two West Indians.

Good to see my boy Karu make a big score.
On current form, all three are on similar levels. Overall records aren't comparable of course.

PHT Kaushal and Thiri may get dropped. Kusal Mendis for #3, and Dilruwan Perera to play at #8. Disappointed with selection of Perera, should have gone with Randiv.

If at all, bit slower than he's famed of. Had few injuries. Was capable of hitting 150.
Was he as consistent as he is at mid 140s though? This seems the maximum pace where he can pitch it consistently. Seems like the end stretch. A bit more pacey and it seems he would be all over the place. I am pretty sure he was a bit slower past month than he was in the last test or am I wrong?

No offence to SRI fans, but its hard to be overly impressed by anything about this team other than Mathews and Herath, Prasad is a ok quick bowler, while Chandimal is progressing slowly.

They are just being made to look good here by seriously under strenght West Indies team that has all sorts of behind the scenes turmoil.

A proper West Indies team such as this IMO would be toppling SRI:

Gayle
Brathwaite
Bravo
Samuels
Blackwood
DW Bravo
Ramdin (c)
Narine
Taylor
Rampaul
Bishoo

Apparently Kusal Mendis might play,I know the Lankan board isn't exactly the best but there's guys on the A tour at the moment far more deserving, bit of a snub really.

Really weird selection.

Had a serious injury before his debut. What ever you see is a modified action and him getting used to it. Was a yard quicker as a youngster, and was a spray gun. Post injury, his action was modified, now not as explosive it used to be, but more accurate. He is gaining pace because he is getting used to new action.

Except that Rampaul is now Round Paul, Gayle dgaf, Narine has been called for chucking, and DW Bravo has just never been very good.

DWTA. Dwayne Bravo was legit one of the best all rounders in the world at one point... albeit for a very short stretch.

Yeah there's some footage around of him bowling against county sides on a tour of England and then against New Zealand A where he was a lot more of a slinger and seriously fast consistently.

Bottom line is he's not been very effective so far in his Test or even First Class careers but you can see why the selectors are keen on giving him opportunities, particularly when the alternatives are Lakmal (dire), Eranga (perennially injured) and Chameera (Pradeep with four years less experience) and he won't have a big workload at home if he's having an off day.

I think he always flattered to deceive a little bit, tbh. At times he looked seriously good but I don't really recall a period where he put it all together in terms of actual performance.

He'd definitely be a huge asset to this side at the moment anyway though.

I don't remember him ever being particularly good, but you could be right that he was good at one point in time. Severely doubt he'd be a useful addition to the side now though, and certainly not ahead of Holder.

Gayle has been out bitch for a long long time. Other than on occasion he faced an attack with recovering bowlers, he was awful against us. He was Vaas' and the Kulasekara's bitch. Any medium pacer bowling wicket to wicket is guaranteed picking him up. And we have Mathews, who is medium pace and bit more with the ball. Only other class player missing in that line up is Narine. Narine averages 40+ in test cricket. Don't rate him to be successful against us in tests. If we have out five fast bowlers fit, and Mathews fit and bowling, don't give much chance for WI on SL tracks. Dwayne Bravo didn't do much last time, but he is a good player, but not a one that I will lose sleep on. On the other hand we have picked some pedestrians in the team. Shehan Jayasuriya should be batting at #3. Anything other than 3-0 drubbing in a test (even with that line up) would be disappointing.

Even a team with Haynes, Lara, Hooper, Ambrose and Walsh in 1994 were struggling against us on spinning pitches.

I think he was genuinely very good in 2008-09. He started his career pretty damn well too, with a couple of world class all round performances vs England. That he ultimately didn't become a genuinely excellent allrounder is a result of a whole host of other factors, but it wasn't because he wasn't actually good.
