If anything, this series has just demonstrated how little there is between the two ODI sides.

At various points in the first game, I thought India would win and they didn't
At various points in the second game, I thought SA would win and they didn't.
At various points in the third game, I thought India would win and they didn't.

I think what teams are now beginning to adjust to the new regulations, which means chasing 300 is no longer a casual walk in the park, 270 is a stiff total and 240-260 is defendable.

Having said that, I think India will rue the fact they haven't managed to exploit SA's 5th bowler fully yet. If they are allowing Duminy and Behardien to get away with their overs and haven't forced SA to play 1 less batsmen, then they are missing something here.

As for SA, I would easily play Abbott instead of Steyn just for the fact that the gulf between Steyn and Abbott in 10 overs is far less than the gulf between Steyn and anyone else in the test side. I would want Steyn to be fresh and fit in the tests. Abbott can do just as good a job in the next 2 games.
I think you are overestimating Abbott a bit. Guess it's coming from having seen him in WC. He has been out of sorts since. Was pretty terrible in BD. It does not help that the selection is not consistent with him though. Its all good if SA wants to rest Steyn for Tests but the gap between Steyn and Abbott is still large in ODIs

While I don't believe that ordinary Indians should have to answer for Shiv Sena or RSS, what I would have liked to see was a stronger response from the authorities. Shiv Sena acted this way in 98 too but back then, the BJP government made it clear that it supported the series and the series went ahead. I guess the silence this time says a lot about where we stand.
Jaitley, who is part of the cabinet, has criticised Shiv Sena strongly today.
So did Devendra Fadnavis a few days ago after the incident against Ghulam Ali. Shiv Sena is at the brink of becoming politically irrelevant and therefore all these gimmicks. In some of their past actions, there may have been over-passionate and misguided jingoism, but in these latest events it is desperation to stay relevant. They think bashing Pakistani artists/sportsperson will automatically endear them to Indian public; buffoons have no idea how wrong they are.

Whatever it takes!!!

I quoted him but my post not necessarily directed at him.
cool... I felt that his post was an unfair insinuation, at least the last phrase of his post. Indian politicians, just like every other politician in the world, try to ensure they get on the news some way or the other.

Sorry if you felt that way. What I was trying to say was back in 98, the official position of the then BJP govt was in favour of the series. This time there hasn't been one (correct me if I am wrong) in favour of the series, That's all.

Such weird reporting as well. Some are reporting it with a headline that says he allegedly "***ually assaulted" a woman. But in the articles all that's mentioned is that he hit her with a kettle.

Virat Kohli (c)
wac. done with him if true.

Having said that I should also be done with Wayne Carey in AFL world on that criteria and I can't help but still like him.

Would've never thought Amit Mishra will do something like this. Kohli or Jadeja or Raina I would've understood.
