Even if it is Vijay (who has lacked cricket) & Dhawan or Rahul, I don't think the statement of looking at where Chand is compared to Rahul who isn't in the best of domestic form is too far off.

Elgar in for Duminy for the last 2 ODI's. Deano heading into his peak now at 28 , in a real good groove.

Hoping to have JP available for the first test.

so even YOU are confident India will lose the ODI series without any special efforts from your side.. :)
From what little I've seen so far, India haven't given me good reason to believe that they will be a threat to SA in the remaining two matches.

I am more interested in the test matches which is what REALLY counts.

If anything, this series has just demonstrated how little there is between the two ODI sides.

At various points in the first game, I thought India would win and they didn't
At various points in the second game, I thought SA would win and they didn't.
At various points in the third game, I thought India would win and they didn't.

I think what teams are now beginning to adjust to the new regulations, which means chasing 300 is no longer a casual walk in the park, 270 is a stiff total and 240-260 is defendable.

Having said that, I think India will rue the fact they haven't managed to exploit SA's 5th bowler fully yet. If they are allowing Duminy and Behardien to get away with their overs and haven't forced SA to play 1 less batsmen, then they are missing something here.

As for SA, I would easily play Abbott instead of Steyn just for the fact that the gulf between Steyn and Abbott in 10 overs is far less than the gulf between Steyn and anyone else in the test side. I would want Steyn to be fresh and fit in the tests. Abbott can do just as good a job in the next 2 games.

There are a few factors in play here. Both sides are struggling with their lower-middle orders, both sides seem to still be adapting to the new rules, and the conditions are such that batting against the new ball is a lot easier than against the old one.

However, I doubt the last two factors are really that important. Most of the players on either side have played under these regulations before - 4 men outside the circle only became a thing in 2012. Adapting gameplans to fit these regulations should not be such a struggle. And secondly, the new ball has always been easier to play in the Subcontinent. It's why Asian openers tend to be more aggressive than their English/Aussie/SA counterparts - here you attack the new ball and consolidate after, not the other way around. Again, this should not be such a huge adjustment for both sides. SA have even acknowledged this by sending Miller up to open.

I think the biggest issue is that both sides lack a decent lower-middle order. And in India's case, MSD and Kohli are both struggling to find top gear. SA have been reliant on ABDV and Amla for a couple of years now, and it's expected that when they fall early the rest of the side will struggle to pick up the slack.

Akram and Shoaib will not commentate after Chennai. Won't go to Mumbai. Sad we live in a country of morons.

Duminy Injured, will not play the next 2 ODIs. Morne Morkel in doubt as well with a sore leg. How much would SA miss them if they were to be replaced?

Why? People like us aren't the ones causing this.
Because we live in a country where not much is done to charge such people as per laws. 45 or so Shiv Sainiks went inside bcci offices with their placards. Police arrested 4-5 of them. Most of the times, these people who infringe on freedom of others are let off.

While I don't believe that ordinary Indians should have to answer for Shiv Sena or RSS, what I would have liked to see was a stronger response from the authorities. Shiv Sena acted this way in 98 too but back then, the BJP government made it clear that it supported the series and the series went ahead. I guess the silence this time says a lot about where we stand.
