Interesting point I hadn't initially considered. Given my age, if I was to be a full time test cricketer for the next 7-8 years (= 100 tests) then I'd no doubt improve remarkably as a player. Whether that would be enough to be able to even half contribute on my day, I don't know. There's probably a talent limit in there somewhere that would prevent my seamers ever reaching 80mph and what not. Certainly if I was to replace Ben Stokes for the tour of the UAE I'd be amazed if I'd be able to get a run, wicket or catch.Interesting question. While in the short term I would undoubtedly average 0, and cost my team about 1000 in byes (I'm usually a keeper), a 100 match career is (in New Zealand) equivalent to 12-13 years in the game. If I was to have entered the national environment in my early 20's and had full time access to coaching staff and a professional environment, then I reckon I might have just about been able to nudge my average into double figures during the prime years of my hypothetical career.
My guess is if a guy like Herath got to bowl at a CW Xi he would be able to get five wickets an over.Arm ball from any spinner on the stumps and most of us are lbw first ball imo
If 2 guys like ABDV and Smith batted against a CW XI, then 100 runs in 5 overs will be regular affair. My guess is if a guy like Herath got to bowl at a CW Xi he would be able to get five wickets an over.
No you won't concede so many runs in 55 overs.10k @ 55
I'm sure there'd be at least a few current or former grade players or former on this siteWhich one is more embarrassing?
A batting average of 2 for a batsman after 100 tests, or a bowling economy rate of 14 after 100 tests with an average of 200 for a bowler?
I don't think any regular poster in CW will do better than that.
Your posting.Which one is more embarrassing?
One of the mods was in the Australia under 19 side for the 2006 World Cup.I'm sure there'd be at least a few current or former grade players or former on this site
And NZ has delivered at least 3 international cricketers. Not that any of them are still regulars. Though McClenenenene probably still keeps an eye on Phlegm. One of the mods was in the Australia under 19 side for the 2006 World Cup.
