So this game's bugged, all my opponent is doing is pressing triangle and the defence aren't tracking runners...

United now trying to get Bale again. It must be great and all that these are the kinds of players your club can actually buy; but it's coming off more than a tad desperate at this point.
We've just become the club of choice for players looking for leverage in contract negotiations. I don't think it really has anything to do with us; we're not the ones leaking the story to the media, but nor are we going to deny that we'd sign Neymar or Bale given the chance. It's all between the club they play for and the player's agent.

BARNES OUT
Can someone explain to me why we couldn't be drawn into the Barca group? We only had the option of the Juve group despite no pot 2 team in the Barca group yet.

Something to do with them knocking us out last year?

I think they're trying to ensure teams from the same country are split over the two nights.

Same process seems to have dumped Sevilla into your group.

The PL's 4 teams are split equally between groups A-D and E-H for TV reasons. As ARS & CHE had been drawn to F & G already, no space in E for your mob.

Rumours up here that Pothas lot are buying our little midfield dynamo Ryan Woods. Guess you have the Gray money to send our way, hope we get a good fee. Cracking little player and you will make money on him as Brighton will with Goldson.

As I've said on a number of occasions, looked great against us, for a ginge obviously.

Surprised the Prem haven't had a look. What fee you looking for? Premium on English Players ATM.

Word is we got a 7 figure deal for Goldson and I would expect more for Woods.

Small midfielders is definitely one of our things. Expecting a couple this week so hope this is one of them.

Coquelin reminds me of Lucas pre-injuries - he's fantastic in that role and can hold the midfield together on his own. But you do want someone who can fill in.

He's much more limited than Lucas, who is himself quite limited. He should only really play in big games or come off the bench to help the team hold on to a lead. I don't know if signing someone would help. The squad is as complete as you could ever realistically hope for, far fewer gaps than most of the teams Fergie won the league with. Wenger just isn't using it properly.

It's a squad that is easily good enough to be a dead cert for a top four finish in almost any year. I'm not convinced it's good enough to win the league though, and I'm not convinced that can be attributed to Wenger either. The squad has just reached a point where nearly every player in every position is very good, and the cover is similarly very decent. That said, the squad is still very obviously not quite as good as some of the really strong teams in the league (City/Chelsea). The problem is, bringing in players who were even moderately better than what Arsenal have available at the moment would cost huge amounts of money, and probably would not be worthwhile. It's a tricky situation and I don't really know what's to be done about it.

I'm pretty sure, however, that a new defensive midfielder is neither here nor there. Do I think Arsenal will win the league? No. Do I think the difference between them finising 3rd and finishing 4th will be a defensive midfielder? No.

They're not the best squad in the division, but they're surely close enough to challenge. Ferguson, Mourinho, Pep etc. would win the league with a squad like that most seasons imo.

Yeah, but challenge =/= win.

Arsenal have challenged loads over the last ten years, for all the good it has done them. Their squad is better now than at any other point since the invincibles days, but unfortunately for them it has not developed in a vacuum. If they had enjoyed the current squad 3-4 years ago they'd have won the title by now imo. But, as things stand, I just can't see them winning it. Challenge? If challenge = lead the table for a while, get some good results, but have a few manky results and end up finishing 7-8 points begind 1st then sure. But win? I'd be amazed.

Would another manager do a better job with the same team?. Possibly, and I can see why some might believe that, but it's such a massive hypothesis that any view on the matter would be pretty hazy conjecture at best.
