Australia's XI for the ODI vs. Ireland has been named:
1. Joe Burns
2. David Warner
3. Steve Smith*
4. George Bailey
5. Glenn Maxwell
6. Shane Watson
7. Mitch Marsh
8. Matthew Wade +
9. Mitchell Starc
10. Pat Cummins
11. Nathan Coulter-Nile

I really hope that isn't the batting order. Wade at 8? lol

More responsibility for main-man Maxwell

Interesting idea to not play any bowlers.
Haha yeah. It's fine to go with that balance when Faulkner is playing because he's just as effective as a 'real' bowler, but when he's out I think he needs to be replaced by another actual bowler rather than Mitch Marsh.

Wade is paying $36 - If you think the order will flip or he'll come in early it could be a decent bet. I expect TPC to top score though.

If you're keeper is going to bat an no. 8, wouldn't you pick one who could keep though
Not with Mitch Marsh batting at 7, wtih Watto and Maxy above him to boot.

Aussie's current ODI strength (even without Faulker) is a really deep ODI Batting order.

And I am a huge Maxwell fan.

We've certainly had some interesting specialist ODI selections over the years -- Brett Dorey, Dan Christian, John Hastings, Geeves, Laughlin. Krejza in the 2011 World Cup, Brad ****ing Williams (who admittedly ended up with a brilliant ODI record). List goes on and on.

still remember that tour of india (no not Australia in India 7 Match ODI Series 2013) in 2009 where everybody was injured. paine (who was a replacement for haddin) got injured so manou flew in. mckay flew in iirc. mcdonald flew in but didn't end up playing. burt ****ing ****ley and jon ****ing holland were in the squad.

Jon Holland really should have played some ODIs, tbf. He's no worse than Doherty in that role, and the selectors always wanted a Doherty-esque bowler.

Always seemed to get injured at the wrong times.
