Haven't bothered reading the pitch complaints, as they are almost always crap. This time no different to most others. Australians complaining about an English pitch being good for swing and seam would be as ridiculous as complaining about Perth being quick or Indian pitches spinning. Just get the **** on with playing on the deck that's been prepared.

I've noticed a lot of English pundits, media people, fans, etc, are quite snobbish about Smith supposedly not being able to play the moving ball. They put asterisks next to his two big scores because the pitches were quite flat, then forget that 90% of international cricket is played on those pitches.

I'm sure they were equally generous in putting an asterisk next to Root's contribution given he was dropped on 0 in the 1st test. They're good like that

It's not as if Trent Bridge became a raging seamer overnight, as I said a while back the last Aussie to ton up there was Boon in '93. The seaming decks in this series were playing pretty much entirely in character, that is, slow with some sideways movement. They weren't spitting monsters destroying Test cricket. These are literally the sorts of pitches Lehmann challenged England to provide.

Fact is, both sides were basically unable to cope with the other side having a good day 1. ****, even having a good couple of hours was enough for some in the oppo to drop their bundle, as England showed when they turned day 1 at Cardiff into their day when it was looking pretty one-sided for a while there. Both sides are full of blokes who can crash it when their tail is up but can't find a way to minimise the damage caused by the opposition having a good session.

He can't say that after that waft, a yard outside off, on Day1 at Trent Bridge.

Was good to see the game end in good spirits last night. Congratulations England on the series win, and a pleasing final test for us. Was awesome to see P.Siddy amogst the wickets and bowling so well all game. Was funny to see Athers going to great lengths to try to get Cook or Root to say they went about the game half-arsed...couldn't possible be any other reason for the loss I suppose.

Lords pitch was flat, but the ball swung for a fair bit of the day too. Think it was overstated how "flat" that wicket was a bit.

Nah Lord's is always a complete road. Depending on overhead conditions you might get a bit of assistance through the air but you get nothing off the pitch generally.

That's really disappointing Clarke decided to go out like that. His old team-mates were doing a good enough job deflecting from his career.

Apparently a pitch is only flat when Australia scores runs on it. And atmospheric conditions are absolutely controlled by groundsmen.
