I don't think anyone has a problem with you saying that Murali is the GOAT in your opinion mate. You've specifically said he's the undisputed GOAT, which is simply not true. TBH, even Bradman isn't undisputed, there are many people in the world who would consider say, Tendulkar, better.

I didn't say he was undisputed - I said imo he's the GOAT and gave my criteria. Obviously it won't be undisputed because who you think is GOAT by definition is an opinion.

What, you mean the bowler who wanted to play when 70% fit? Hardly comparable to the guy who was too hurt to bowl one week but was fully fit when the Zimbabwean's came to town.
70% fit haha what the ****. So Jimmeh is still too hurt to bowl?
Ya because Kallis never bowled in England and doesnt have a 5-fer there. Or didnt bowl 40 overs in one of the tests in that series.

Sri Lanka has produced many legendary cricketers, but Muttiah Muralitharan is widely regarded as the country's greatest ever. Here's why:

  1. Record-Breaking Career:
    • He holds the record for the most wickets in Test cricket (800 wickets) and ODI cricket (534 wickets).
    • His ability to turn the ball on any surface made him a nightmare for batsmen.
  2. Longevity and Consistency:
    • His career spanned nearly two decades (1992–2010), during which he was a match-winner across formats.
  3. Impact on Sri Lankan Cricket:
    • Muralitharan was instrumental in making Sri Lanka a competitive force in world cricket, particularly in Test matches.
Other notable names include:

  • Kumar Sangakkara: One of the finest batsmen and wicketkeepers, known for his elegance and leadership.
  • Sanath Jayasuriya: Revolutionized ODI batting with his explosive style.
  • Mahela Jayawardene: A strategic leader and brilliant batsman.
  • Aravinda de Silva: A hero of Sri Lanka's 1996 World Cup win.
Ultimately, the title of the "best" cricketer depends on personal preference, but Muralitharan's unparalleled records make him a strong contender for this honor.

A spinner with avg of 26 in 60 odd test >> batsman with avg of 45 in 60 odd tests.

Murali with avg of 26 was a standout with Warne among all spinners in tests involving top 5 teams during his career

Sanga wasn't a standout in test involving top 5 sides during his career.

I just took top 5 in W/L for both periods. Sure, in some sub-periods the same top 5 won't appear but this reflects the top 5 during their entire career and how they actually did compared to others who played against same sides at the same time in their career

Murali stands out, Sanga does not.

Some may see the last 10 years as peak of Sanga. Yes, if you can stand out in 10 years period then you do belong with the players like Murali. Sanga did not stand out from 2005-2015 as well.

Some fans start seeing how he did when he was not keeping. We don't do that for any all rounders. We don''t start seeing how all rounders bat when they were not bowling. We don't start seeing how all rouders bowl when they are not batting. We simply see what they did whenever they were batting or bowling and judge them based on that.

Sanga should get extra point for being an all rounder but I don't think his keeping takes him near Murali. Career output is vastly different against good teams and both have played 60 odd tests so it;s not the case of one playing a lot less.

In ODI as well, it's Murali.

Murali takes this one for me.
