It's not about urgency, it's about not allowing the bowler to bowl to you, unless you given the impression that you are looking to be aggressive the bowler will keep doing what he's comfortable with. The bowler knows you will mostly just defend or at best use your feet for a single so that's all he worries about, he's not even thinking of getting hit for a 4 or 6 anymore.
Nah disagree with all this. You need 175 to win in 2 days. Let them bowl at you all ****ing day till their arms fall off, then you score runs.

There are no rippers in those wickets. This isn't a minefield that will inevitably get the batsman out. Just play sensibly. SL need wickets. Let them get desperate for it.

Saha got a good ball but that's hardly unplayable. It's literally all poor footwork and poor shot selection.

Yeah, blaming the approach itself instead of poor quality of the batting is silly. Don't keep saying Chandimal did it so India should've attacked too, thats neither here nor there. We batted like 90s English batsmen. batting slowly wasn't the problem. Batting poorly was.

herath got five wickets by basically bowling straight balls that skidded more than turned and he varied his length. so fun to see how something so simple (in terms of the plan) can get such a mental hold on the batsman. batsmen so often approach him like he's bowling mystery balls.

Grow a pair and come out and say something about it then, just like a couple of NZ players did about getting rid of a test match.
are they all supposed to hold pressers and state that they would love drs? maybe post on their twitter accounts? getting on the wrong side of the bcci is a great idea isn't it?

they could all be for drs for all we know. they may have gone to management and told them that they want it. we literally don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

All that poor footwork and shot selection comes from pressure being created though. If you are only defending then BOWLERS BOWL BETTER! It's as simple as that, it's not a minefield but there's a bit of variable bounce and the SL bowlers are bowling with accuracy because they are being allowed to do so. Again you are confusing aggression with fast scoring. You don't have to score quickly, you just have to show that you can get after the bowler, there hasn't even ONE aggressive shot, like honestly, tell the bowler that if he gets it wrong he's gonna get smashed so toss it up at your own will.

Lastly this India batting line up is more about run scoring than stalling, their techniques in general while defending are inferior to the previous generation, especially the two players with good defensive techniques are sitting out (Pujara and Vijay) so they are not exactly playing their natural game.

The hell is Herath or we doing differently this dig compared to the first one? He wasn't causing so many problems then. Is it mental that there's 2 days to get 175 and we've gone into a shell as a result?

How do you explain Dhawan and Kohli scoring centuries in the first innings at 40-50 strike rates? And India getting to 375 at only 3 rpo despite Kaushal bowling a full toss an over? You're blaming the wrong thing here.
