The footwork and shot selection looks so poor. Dhawan trying to hit a legstump fulltoss to midwicket instead of just flicking straight to leg, Saha not getting to the pitch and dragging the backfoot off, Nohit not getting in line with the ball, Kohli flicking from outside off.

No reason to believe he's as good either. If you allow a bowler to bowl at you then yeah obviously they will look good. No one can guarantee how one performs when put under the pump. We just haven't put SL bowlers under pressure so we don't know how good or bad they are.

The way you play Herath is by coming down the pitch and getting him off that length he hones into otherwise.. Pak did a great job at it last time around - the time before they just stood at the crease and Herath got the first 9-fer by a left-handed bowler..

Except Pujara isn't so out of nick, Rohit's been much worse in the same time period Pujara's been "out of nick". We just keep playing Rohit because "oh he's a DYNAMIC TALENT" and "when he gets going there's no one like him!"... which is all BS.

It's not about urgency, it's about not allowing the bowler to bowl to you, unless you given the impression that you are looking to be aggressive the bowler will keep doing what he's comfortable with. The bowler knows you will mostly just defend or at best use your feet for a single so that's all he worries about, he's not even thinking of getting hit for a 4 or 6 anymore.

it's like watching a new look western side coming to SL for the first time.

play herath by smothering him and keeping straight and tight imo. it's not going to bounce but it will skid and turn so you can get nailed lbw easily if you hang back or play expansively.

Yeah was really poor. Bit harsh on the Saha dismissal though (even though he's ****). That ball just beat him in the flight, was a beauty from Herath.

I guess just like if you play for NZ you don't have the right to complain about lack of test matches and good test series, because NZC is turning a test match vs. Aus into an ODI.

Or perhaps we separate Boards from players.

Grow a pair and come out and say something about it then, just like a couple of NZ players did about getting rid of a test match.

Exactly. There's been zero homework on this. Even a cursory glance at how Pakistan handled him would've been enough.

At the beginning of the test i had no hope that we would win this match..had some good performance in the first 2 days ...Hope this test convince BCCI that DRS is good thing and umpire mistakes do cost test matches and it can be greatly reduced by DRS
