I am kind of surprised with the way Sri Lankan batsmen have played spin. I usually rate Sri Lankans very highly when it comes to playing spin.

Hope these 2 and Rahane make it big - must not forget we have only 3 specialist batsmen left...very good position to be in after day 1 though

Doesn't appear to be. Sky don't normally have the rights for Sri Lankan cricket and I can't see it on Eurosport or any of the BT channels.

WRT 5 bowlers: The point isn't that 5 bowlers on any one given test will be more effective than 4. The potency of the attack in a one off game is not improved by having 5 bowlers.

The point of having 5 bowlers means that, over the course of a long tour, our bowlers stay fresher. In both Aus and England, from the 3rd Test on the bowlers were already flagging due to the weight of overs bowled in the first couple of Tests. We were starting with a tired attack from ball 1. That was a huge factor in why we go from competitive at the start to absolute **** by the end of the tour. Having 5 bowlers alleviates that. Especially with 2 spinners. It means less 20+ over days for our already fragile quicks.

A 2 Test series like this or the 1 off test in BD doesn't require us to play 5 bowlers. But we should be doing that when we have a long tour. Especially since Ashwin, Bhuvi, Bhajji and even Mishra recently are all pretty adept batsmen.

Bloody Dhoni absolutely flogged poor Bhuvi last summer, probably should blame Binny for not showing much in the few overs he bowled though.

Yeah agree with that. Over a series there's an argument. But people are saying this about the SA and NZ tours for some reason. If our bowlers get gassed after 2 tests, forget 5 bowlers, just hit the ****ing gym.

Bhuvi didn't get tired because Dhoni overbowled him, he got tired because he scored runs on top of bowling. The theory of playing Binny was legit, but ultimately Binny wasn't going to contribute as a bowler to really count as a 5th bowler, we really should have played Ashwin instead.

Also people need to understand that 5 bowlers includes Ashwin + few other guys who can hang around and contribute (Jadeja, Bhajji, Mishra, Bhuvi). So it's not like the batting finishes after the top 6.
