Oh thanks for the tips about the internet, I'm very new to it so all of it is appreciated.
There was no time where it wasn't like this, which is why I don't post in it much anymore. The same arguments between the same people for a (literal) decade get pretty stale. Especially when a Tendulkar vs. Lara argument goes on for a page in a (largely) Sangakkara thread with tangential relation to the aforementioned.
Also; holy **** I've been posting here for a decade.

Sangakarra averages 44.6 outside Asia and versus teams barring Zimbabwe. This includes an average of 40 in England, 35 in South Africa. Even in India, he has an average record. He is amazing in Sri Lanka, Australia and v Pakistan. He was an elegant player to watch. I loved that aspect. For some it was even irritating (the Samiuddin article on it is most interesting). However, he was a player who could have achieved more. Raw numbers wise you can look at the big double centuries and think what more could he have done, but that's not going deep into it. Tendulkar averages 50.90 plus in 70 plus games for the same.

Most of the very good subcontinental players I am looking average between 40 and 45 for this except Tendulkar, Gavaskar and Dravid who all average beween 51 and 52. Doesn't mean Sangakarra is bad by any stretch. Jayawardene averages in the low 30s for this, for instance.

Obviously too few tests but it's still interesting to look.

Nah. Dravid was exceptional away. It's easy to get carried away as Sangakarra is more current.
