Warner is actually looking worse here than he did in his 50 in the second innings at Cardiff.
Warner has always looked awful at times, even when in form. It's because he is so aggressive. I'm not sure he knows how to play any other way.

England remember to shell slip chances again. Warner should slog, it's his day and the ball is getting older.
Yeah, when you've been given two lives deliberately increasing the risk of giving away your wicket because of a fatuous concept like 'it is your day' is certainly the way to go.

Well Australia should try and score as many as they can today because it's their day (scientifically proven) and tomorrow might not be

.He is never going to average high 40s/50s
Possibly not in England, but his career average is 47 or something isn't it? Anyway not really disagreeing, but I think people sometimes over-value being an all-conditions type player. It's certainly what separates your all time great type players from an ordinary successful test batsman but I'd obviously take a devastating flat track bully over, say, someone like Atherton who could grind out a difficult 60 on a seamer but was never really someone who was going to make you big runs consistently when runs were available. Not sure Atherton is the perfect example of the player I'm thinking of, but probably close enough.

That does depend a bit on the conditions you usually see though.

Stokes looking good here. Nice hoop on the ball, he isn't consistent but we know he has a spell in him every 3 or 4 tests that can win a match.

It is 46 odd at the moment, but yeah that is a fair point given the amount of cricket he will play in Australia his average probably will be high 40s.

Why did Cook take off Finn from the attack? I agree he went for runs, but taking him off like this will hurt his confidence more.

Cricket fans love a flawed argument for why the batting team should be more aggressive so so much. I propose from now on we all just admit that we want them to attack because defensive batting is boring.
