*Official* Fourth Test at Trent Bridge

They don't have to bowl England out for 60. Under 150 would keep the game alive, since you'd expect Australia to have the better of second-innings conditions. It's hardly out of the question, seaming conditions and ****e England batting.

Or they could just give up, which seems to be what teams do when behind in an Ashes test these days.
Yeah, when was the last time a team in an Ashes test actually came from behind to win?

Well true, but I'm just not certain that bowling properly will be enough to keep it to around 150. Maybe I just lack faith though and I've grown up on Australian wickets too much.
One thing's guaranteed - thinking you have to bowl miracle balls and roll them for 59 will see them pile on 300+.

England didn't go out and try to bowl 10 outrageous deliveries to get wickets.

It probably won't, but it might. It gives you a chance.

Australia had first innings leads at Trent Bridge and Chester-le-Street last time around IIRC.

Before that....would Adelaide count?

There's been a few. But we still regularly see an enormous drop in the performance of teams that are behind in the match.

Yeah fair cop on CLS and Trent Bridge. Possibly argue CLS was evens considering the batting last factor but forgot that you were in that series for most part.
