Did the crowd cheer or boo when Hogan was eliminated? In actuality, people cheered because they were tired of him, but WWE piped in boos later IIRC
Cheers, people behind are mostly up in arms cheering, then boos. I'd study further, but the network player ****ing sucks and it's impossible to rewind and watch it again

They were. I prefer the first one though. The second one had too much influence from guys who were prominent WWE guys who had never had anything to do with ECW for my liking (that Angle vs Orton match for instance; should never have been on the card). Still a good show, but ergh...didn't feel quite right for me, despite a lot of very cool moments/matches.

Commentary was edited from that bit from the live version too

but Heenan throughout that Rumble. So good. And Flair's post match promo. The Hogans, the Pipers, the Macho Mans and the Sids.

Flair's 91-93 run was immense. I legit despised him as much as I did my most hated football teams at the time.

I think WWE just started the process that ends in Cena putting Reigns over for the title at Wrestlemania.

Nice bit of morning Wrestling Forum wisdom:

Hes not going to beat Cesaro. Therefore he will go from being "the next big monster heel" to a midcard "pointless jobber" in the space of 6 weeks.

**** John Cena and **** Vine Mcmahon and the booking team
In a thread titled "Kevin Owens is finished". Gold.

Hyperbolic for sure, but there's a reasonable point to be dug out of there somewhere. The crap long-term development of pretty much every guy who isn't in the world title picture means that this sort of situation will inevitably arise (i.e. creative suddenly gets two guys they want to elevate, but neither have any momentum, so they put them in a feud with each other, meaning that one of them will inevitably eat the pin).

I don't think Cesaro or Owens can really absorb a clean loss without being hurt by it at this stage. A loss would not result in either one of them being "finished", not by a long stretch, but it wouldn't be ideal, and could have been avoided had the writers not spent the last few months messing about.

What Owens vs Cesaro need is a long feud. 2-3 PPV matches imo. Don't just end it with one win for either Cesaro or KO and then move on to something else, that'd be terrible. Either give KO the first match where he wins through some heel shenanigans so that Cesaro doesn't look weak as piss, or give Cesaro a hard fought win with Owens attacking him after the match or something. This needs to be a proper fued not a one and done..

Yeah, I agree. Having thought about it I would probably have Owens win the first one (mainly because 3 straight PPV losses would be piss poor), lose the second, and then win third. If that's done well they could both conceivably come out of things looking strong.

Yeah that'd be fine. All they need to do is give Cesaro a reason too want a rematch after the first one.

Yeah, should be pretty simple to do really. An obvious way of doing it would be, as you say, have Owens cheat to win. Then Cesaro cost him a match on RAW the next night or something in retaliation.

Most likely the writers will go with a long promo "I'm gonna beat you up again" approach though. Which is really tiresome these days.

This is one feud which I actually want to watch though. Thought the MizTv segment on RAW was above average and think these two guys could really go and put on some great matches. As you guys have said they just need to get the balance right with regards to the matches and results. As for Owens being "finished", he's landed in a better spot than Rusev did coming off his Cena feud.

Should have the Title vs Title match at Summerslam. Then, like after Hogan-Warrior in 1990 have the US title vacated as the champ can't hold both belts, and start an 8-man US Title Tournament with Owens and Cesaro at either end of the bracket. Then, they can both win 2 matches setting up the big final match for the title at Night of Champions. An 8 man tournament featuring guys like Owens, Cesaro, Rusev, Neville, Stardust, Henry, Ryder and Barrett would be fun viewing too. The bracket then culminates in an epic match between the two, maybe something awesome like a ladder match. Would be awesome.
