ATG Draft - Batting Averages

harsh.ag

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
This draft does make one think a bit more than usual about selections, especially since most batting line-ups are going to be limited at best. Reckon Shady's Brearley pick from 20-25 was a darn good one.

Yeah great pick imo. Atleast with those sort of picks you get something extra (ie) great captaincy. Selecting a bunch of allrounders isn't going to help all that much because beyond 6 bowlers, other bowling options are basically useless.

Wanted a spinner for my 0-5 slot, can't believe my luck that left-arm spinner Jack Saunders (79 wickets @ 22) is still available.

Jack Saunders
Makhaya Ntini
Dale Steyn
Malcolm Marshall

I'll take Fred Trueman (10-15) thanks. One of the last remaining ATG pacers in 10-15 range, so couldn't resist.

Archie Maclaren (30-35)
-
-
George Giffen (20-25)
-
-
Imran Khan (35-40)
Harold Larwood (15-20)
Fred Trueman (10-15)
-
Brett Schultz (0-5)

Larwood and Trueman spearheading the bowling attack with Imran's reverse and Schultz's brutal pace backing them up will blow virtually any batting lineup away.

Same dramas with the length of the tail. Anyhow before the war Tallon was averaging over 40 with the bat for a few seasons for Queensland and I don't think his class with the gloves can be denied.

Schearzie takes one great old-timey wicket-keeper, I'll take another, for the 20-25 range, Godfrey Evans. I've filled 6-11, but no batsmen as of yet.

Yeah the 20-35 range was more tricky. The rest are fine. There's a surplus of great players in the other categories.
